That is clearly a hardware issue with the machine..either there is an issue with the movement of the rod or firmware of the machine is corrupted.
Machine needs to be replaced.

When I plug in the scanner it starts to scan straight away before I've pressed any buttons on put anything on the bed to scan! The laser then gets stuck at the end and just keeps clicking away

It is normal for this scanner to briefly "scan" when it is plugged in. However, the moving lens shouldn't go all the way down to the back end. It sounds like the scanner is physically damaged, most likely the belt slipped several cogs and now the scanning mechanism is out of alignment. Look into warranty service for the unit.

I have a Canon DR-3080C II that the images scanned are totally black. I have tried cleaning it, reinstalling drivers, moving to a different PC, and using different programs & settings with no change. ...

Check the brightness setting. Try keeping at close to the maximum and scan. If it is still black, may be the lighting module or Scan module is affected. Check for any loose connections.

My power driver's seat 1999 lincoln continental keeps returning to the full back position even when i drive.I changed the entire seat frame with new motors and gears, $500.00 no fix. I have to pull the #39...

does this have automatic seat positioning when you open the door or hit the unlock button on your key fob?

here's how it works:

Seats — Programmable
The memory seat system allows automatic positioning of the driver seat to two programmable positions using the message center, the key fob or the keypad on the door.
Seats — Driver Seat Module
The Driver Seat Module (DSM) is located under the driver's seat and is attached to the seat frame. The DSM will:
  • control the movements of the driver's seat and power exterior rearview mirrors
  • store and recall seat and mirror positions of two personalized settings
  • receive all power seat and mirror control inputs from the Driver's Door Module (DDM) through the J1850 communication network
  • move the exterior rearview mirrors downward when the transmission is shifted into reverse, if enabled.
Seats — Driver Door Module
The driver's seat regulator control switch is connected to the Driver Door Module (DDM). The DDM receives the driver's seat regulator control switch input and communicates the direction of movement over the J1850 communication network.

Also, the dealer can run a scan on your seat modules with his tester and tell you what the codes are. They should only charge an hour to do this. Then you can decide what to do. Call your dealer and ask how much to run the scan test.

Solution for ''i am using umax astra5600 whenever i press scan button i tell me to unlock scanner and press ok

Some machines have a travel lock. It is a movable knob or twist device that keeps the scanner bar from moving when the scanner is being shipped. You will have to look all over for it, it can be under the scanner area. You should not have to take anything apart to find it.On a Sharp copier, I had to remove it completely. Your owners manual should show where it is.

Scanner says it is lock, but it isn't

I had the same problem. The scanner car is stuck on the travel rail. Disconnect the scanner and remove the top. Turn over and remove 4 screws holding top to bopttom body. Turn right side up and push in very hard on the lower riight side of body to release snap in holding top to bottom. There are four snaps, one at each corner of scanner. Do the two rear snaps next. Then the left front should slip off. Unfold top toward front so as not to pull butoon wires out of track in bottom body. Clean 1/4" rail at rear of scanner and apply small amount of vaseline. Move car by turning gears at left rear to get to all of the rail. Reassemble. Happy scanning.

HP PCS 2510 Scanner module keeps running

Please follow my steps:
1. Make a ring, which is 5mm high and 1/3 cut so that it can be mounted at the far right end of the rail bar where the scanner module sliding back and forth. This can help get the none-stopping scanner out of the trap!
2. Do the Semi-Reset opreation. Then you can see the healing result!

How 'crisp' is the line? IF it is same thickness even at different contrast levels, then it is likely the scan module is affected. If the thickness varies, or has jagged ends, then it is dust on the glass or a scratch of may be a dust particle sitting on the scan module. This has to be cleaned.

Scanner locked.

Normally that is an issue with the ribbon cable from the scanner to the main board if the latch is in the correct position.
I would securely reseat that cable, bias it somewhat upward.
Check the ends of that ribbon cable to be sure a portion of the silver print isnt pealed back.
No reset code for that. The scanner may have failed also. The sensor inside the scanner may be bad.
You can try going to the Xerox.com site under drivers and downloads and load the newest firmware. But I doubt that is an issue.
Only other thing i could think of would be the scanner not returning to the full home position due to an obstruction.
Or the scan head itself being out of the rail latch, or even the end of the scan head could be broken, not scanning straight.

Problem with new set

Sounds like the lock-switch is in the locked position. This is on the bottom of the scanner. Move the lock-switch back and forth a few times and then leave it in the unlock posotion. Try scanning again.

If you are scanning a book, it may be too heavy and putting enough pressure on the scanner that it is preventing the scan head from moving fully. Try scanning with nothing on the glass to see if it does the same thing.
