I have the same problem. The standby light is blinking 2 times; intermittently.
The screen is lilac with horizontal lines. No picture; no sound. Then it instantly offs.

On mysony.com; the troubleshooter says try unplugging it for 3-6 minutes. then plug it back into the wall. if that don't work; and it wont; seek a service center which they have the tool for that on the site.

Two-blinks of the "Diagnostic STANDBY/TIMER LED" indicates one of two things:

1) Horizontal Output (Q502) in shorted on the A-board.

or

2) IC702 is shorted (CB board)

Two-blinks of the diagnostic red LED is a " B+ Overcurrent" problem.
The red LED will blink 2-times, stay off for 3 seconds, then blink 2-times. The cycle repeats.

The circuit board is quite delicate. One should not attempt repairs (unless one has high quality vacuum desoldering equipment such as a PACE desoldering unit).

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Re: tv kdl-55ex620 red light blink 8 times Do a Power Reset. 1. While the TV is off, unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet. 2. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds. 3. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. (If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.) 4. Turn on the TV. 5. When the TV powers on and a picture is displayed, reset the TV to factory default settings.
  • If the Reset message does not appear and the TV turns off and on, begin again from step 5.
  • If the standby light begins blinking eight times, return to step 1.
6. After the Reset message appears, allow the TV to reset. Do not press any buttons on the remote control or on the TV and do not make any other adjustments for 1 minute. 7. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. 8. Allow the TV to remain without power for 10 seconds. 9. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. 10. Turn on the TV.
  • The initial setup screen displays if the above procedures were performed correctly.
11. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial set up. 12. Perform a system software (firmware) update.

Hi,
The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.
Few examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set.
3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power problem.
6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your set.
7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set. Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set will need to be serviced.
8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

The samsung ln46a650 will click continously when triing to turn on and the red light just keeps blinking.

Most likely failed capacitors in the power supply. I am currently having the same problem with my 26 month old LN46A750. Samsung has greed to fix this as a "courtesy repair".

10 BLINKS AND GO DEAD

Standby tech diagnostic codes.
Panasonic seems to be having some issues with this on newer sets.
They are a good brand but this is not very good and pretty common.
Do a search for Panasonic TV codes
Usually its related to the current and circuits to fire up the set.
After unplugging for a time, a few hours maybe over night. A few minutes may not be long enough. Try plugging directly into a wall outlet by itself, do not use a surge/protector or power strip.
Some have success by even moving connections around such as DVD player or cable box to a different port.
This is worth trying if the TV is out of warranty because truly it could work but check out the codes for 10 blinks first. The number of blinks tells what the problem is. I do not codes for Panasonic.
I have a similar problem that is extremely common on my Sony and it wouldn't start, 6 blinks. Removed it from surge protector and plugged other equipment in a different outlet.
I have plugged directly into the wall and it will fire up now, When I am done I unplug at wall to reset standby. The set is not worth the $500 bills to repair so until is, yours may be.
