Re: Pioneer rear prolection tv
You have bad solder connections on the power supply printed circuit board. It is the board that can be found by following the ac cord to it. Boards like this usually are screwed down to the plastic frame. You will have to unplug some things and undress wires to turn the board upside down and look at the solder connections. There should be obvious bad connections.

I had this same problem. Apparently it's fairly common with these older Hitachi Ultravision TVs. There is a bad fuse and capacitor. If you are willing to do some soldering it can be fixed at home. I bought a kit and instructions from TVRepairKits.com for about $30. Although I haven't worked on electronics since jr high school electric shop, it powered up as soon as I replaced the bad parts. Not very difficult, although the circuit board accumulated an amazing amount of dust in its 10+ years of use.
Hey dudes...even i hav had the same problem that too with the same model specified here..Its a problem actually concerned with the power circuit boards of the tv. Its best to get it checked by an authorized technician. For me I had to replace a transistor on one of the boards. But after that my tv came up with a new problem....the colours appear like rainbows! Could nyone xplain y dis is happening?
Thier is a number of reasons to why your set will not come on and stay on its possiable that you have a leaky capacitor in the high voltage circuit. If you really like this set call a repair shop it will need to go in for repair. thank you & have a nice day.
Could be a few things.First check your sleep timer.Sounds like a fail safe mode that when the tvs left on accidentally it shuts itself down so it wont overheat and die prematurely. The last resort is to remove the circuit board and carefully inspect the solder joints near the power supply with a magnifying glass and a bright light. Then resolder those.
Your set will one day soon not come on at all. theres several capacitors on the PIP board if your set has PIP or the capacitors in the power supply. A good tech should know where to check as this set some say is hard to work on but i quess its like anything you work on for a bit gets easyer. Call an authorized repair center for pioneer. Good Luck
