Question about Canon MP610 Photo All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Canon MP610 I Live in Goa, India. I am a British ex pat and bought the printer 3 weeks ago. The machine stopped working after 9 prints of 6 x 4 pictures. The report I get is 'Cartridge not recognised.' The dealer gave me Canon, Indias freephone number. I live in smal town, population around 1500 and 3 miles from the nearest town. I am told that their onsite service cannot be offered as they have no agent in the area.(They have one 3 miles away.)and I must return the printer to tha supplier and they will visit his office to repair. This does not constitute onsite service. I am 72 yrs old and the machine in it's original packaging weighs 30KG plus. Too much for me to handle. Can you offer any suggestions. PS I payed IRs16000 for the machine,(Thats about $422)

I have the same problem here in the US, an error message U140 saying that the "following ink tank cannot be recognized"  and showing the smaller Black cartridge # 8.   We've tried removing it, putting it back, restarting and the same error message keeps coming up.

This is due to the cartridge. What happens is the chip goes faulty and the carriage unit can not read the chip so it doesnt know what is in the machine.

On the cartridges they have a serial number on the back of the cartridge if you hold it in the right light you will see it. The old version is 2xxx xxxx but the new version will start with a 3 or a 5. These cartridges should always work.

If you are funning refills then this would cause the problem as well.

As of where you live the only think i could say is to maybe look for a new cartridge and this should get rid of your fault.

Hope this helps

Check to make sure you have the most recent software for your printer. Go to Canon's support website to check for the latest software: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx300#DriversAndSoftware

If that doesn't work, I've sometimes have had to uninstall a printer and it's software, and then completely reinstall it again for it to work. Hope this helps.

Try with the adjustment settings either in the printer or in your system. If the print quality is still low, Replace the printer. You may have warranty replacement.

I have a Canon MP610 printer and am getting an error message 6A00. I have tried moving the carriage but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Hi,

1. Turn off the printer

2. Open cover

3. Print head and cartridges manually move to the left

4. on the extreme right is a white plastic cover is visible, which is attached to a spring

5. Clean the cover carefully (no chemicals, not wet) and gently push it back (it clicks) and remove any impurities -> the black collecting sponges for the storage of the print head can see

6. Print head and cartridges manually back to the right move

7. Turn on printer

If the above steps does not fix the problem, Click on the link below to check the forum for more details on resolving the issue.

I replaced the cyan ink cartridge. The printer accepts that the cartridge is full but prints with no blue. I bought another new cartridge and have the same problem.

It sounds like you need a new print head. You can find them online for around $75.00 each. I've had very good luck with Precision Roller. Do a google search for "canon mp610 print head".

Canon MP610 out of black ink

Cannon Pixma MP610 - when the black ink is empty and you receive the replace ink message, then hold down the "cancel" button for 5 seconds or so and it the printer automatically bypasses the problem. It does work but Ive had mixed success in terms of the print quality when doing this.

No Print

remove the cartridge and set it on an alcohol-soaked paper towel in the kitchen sink for about 15 minutes. If the towel has not begun to draw ink out, then tap cartridge firmly against your other hand which is holding the towel. if still none, then try heating the alcohol to about 150 degrees and repeat. if still nothing, then ink is either spent or cartridge head is dried up. take it to cartridge world (or similar outlet store) and they can get a cheap replacement.
