Whirlpool dryer won't run

Tried to run the dryer and didn't run. The element heated up but no motor sounds. Belt is fine. I opened up the back and the element is heating up even when the door is open. Checked door switch and power switch are fine. If I turn the dial the element starts and heats and will go off when dial gets to off (even with the door open).

No wiring has changed. I just opened it up to start looking. I was also guessing one of the sensors or the timer. Thanks

I changed the thermfuse and sensor with it. The dry worked again but must have blown the fuse again, Stopped again.

You may have a broken centrifugal switch in the motor because this switch activates the motor and the heater as well. supposed to be if the motor does not run , the heater should not heat in order not to create fire but you said that even the motor is not running, the heater is still heating, then there could be a problem with the motor centrifugal switch that is connected to this interlock switch that should trigger the heater.

This sounds like something may be mis-wired...or there may be a defective switch contact in the timer or one of the other controls. If the heater element comes on with the blower motor not running, it should quickly overheat and trip one of the thermal shutoff switches.

Whirlpool dryer won't spin

Most dyers after you pull the top up, the front should just lift a little and it should come loose, sounds like you may have the belt intact, but the motor is not conected to the belt.

Whirlpool WED5300STO When pressing start button, only dryer heat element turns on drum does not turn, can not turn off, must unplug to turn off, can plug back in, element is off but when pressing start...

If you have airflow through the machine, then the motor is running. You have probably lost the drum drive belt. To replace it, you must remove the top and front panels, plus remove a rear access panel on the lower back to reload the belt on the motor and idler. Hope this helps!

Front loading whirlpool dryer won't turn, but you can hear what sounds like the motor running. The the heating element turns on.

This problem is commonly caused by a broken or loose dryer belt. Worse case scenario would be a bad drive motor, but you've already explained that you can hear the motor running. So, that would rule out a drive motor problem. You will need to open the dryer cabinet in order to verfiy if the belt is still intact. A visual inspection should confirm if the belt is still wrapped around the drum and tight. If the belt is missing, the only way it will come off the drum is if it breaks. You will need to replace it if this is the case.

If you need further guidance, please post back with your model number (located aorund the door opening) so that I may be able to provide better assistance. All dryers are not contructed the same and I will need to be able to explain to you how to open the cabinet. I hope this helps you.

Whirlpool dryer WED5530SQ0, heats but does not run

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

My Whirlpool dryer LER3624EQ1 is overheating

If you open the dryer quick enough during a cycle, you will see the element glow. That's normal. It sounds like a belt problem. Something is causiing the drum to drag which will cause the belt not to turn as easy. This, in turn, will make the motor work harder and overamp as it is trying to move the belt but it is just sitting and spinning and burning the belt. Look for something like a rear drum bearing or tensioner pulley causing the problem. Continuity test just show that there is a complete circuit. This is confirmed by the element getting hot. Also, if you motor is not turning at the correct speed, this will slow down the amount of air being moved across the element. This will also cause excessive heating of the element.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Dryer motor

if the motor buzzes when you push start then it is a bad motor.as long as the drum turns freely by hand.

Dryer runs no heat

the kenmore is manufactured by Whirlpool. there are thermal overloads in the blower housing and one in back where the elements are. if these overloads open, 1) motor won't run 2) element won't turn on. check for an obvious open element.
