Question about Philips DVDR880 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

TV programs copyright protection

I considering buying a Philips DVDR3575H/37 but I have read in some of the customer reviews that there are TV programs/series that are copyright protected and can not be recorded with this machine (or any DVDR). It might not make much difference to me if the programs I am not interested in recording are protected, but if there are some programs that I am anticipating recording that I will not be able to record, it may influence my decision to buy a DVDR. Is there a list of TV programs/series that are copyright protected? Is there a firmware fix that allows recording of the copyright protected shows? Thank you for your help.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Philips DVDr3575H/37 Clock Resets

I found this on another board from "Dartman"

You probably have the auto clock turned on and it's finding the wrong channel to set itself with.
You can turn that feature of then it will loose or gain time according to how accurate your individual time chip is.
Also that unit only gets the time signal from analog stations and if your in the USA those were shut down the 24th of June, if your on cable they MIGHT still be working as most still carry some networks on a small analog basic section.
Try this place and thread, more then you want to know about that machine.

Can't finalise dvd containing AVI movies copied from USB

I would use your PC to finalize discs containing AVI files. There just isn't a way to do it from the Philips. I personally use Dr. Divx, but there are many programs out there that will do this.

No sound

Make sure the red and white audio cables are plugged into the OUT of the dvdr, and the IN of the tv - and make sure the tv is on the correct source channel. If using a coaxial cable, reset the audio setting of the dvd first, and the tv second if that fails.
