Dell dimension 3100 win xp home will not logon or go to setup/boot screen, only goes staight to black screen saying TYPE SYSTEM PASSWORD AND PRESS [ENTER] but it doesn't let you type anything. Also will...

The simplest way to remove a BIOS password is to simply remove the CMOS battery. A computer will remember its settings and keep the time even when it is turned off and unplugged because these parts are powered by small battery inside the computer called a CMOS battery. If we pull out this battery, the computer will forget alot of its hardware settings, including its BIOS password. This should not be performed on Laptops if you are not experienced working with laptop hardware.

I can't log in to my account on my Dell PC?

Now which operating system are you running ?

Forgetting your Windows XP login details might at first seem like a disaster. Don't panic though; your login password and username are easily recovered by changing the login details to that of the administrator.

Begin with your computer turned off, and then turn it on. You will need to log in to your computer manually and this can only be done in the load-up screens. Wait until your computer reaches the Windows login screen. The screen usually displays a "Welcome" message. Press and hold the "Ctrl", "Alt" and "Delete" keys two times at the Windows login screen. Your computer will automatically reveal a Classic Login box. Type "Administrator" (without quote marks) into the "Username" field and leave the "Password" field blank. Windows automatically creates an Administrator account when your computer is first booted up; in this account you can alter or change any user's login details. Navigate through the "Start" menu and click on the "Control Panel." In the Control Panel explorer, double-click on the "User Accounts" icon to open a new window. Select "Change an Account" in the User Accounts window and select the username you want to alter. From here you can edit the user's name and password, but you can also alter the user's picture, account type and .NET password. Restart your computer to login with your new username and password.

How can i recover my administrator password on windows xp if i forgot it

You could do the following; when you boot up, the screen will tell you to press ENTER if you want to get into the operating system RESTORE MODE. When you set up your system you will have saved configuration settings, and hopefully, you would have carried out a number of saved "BackUp's" of your HardDrive as you used your computer. If you did, you can carry out a 'Go Back To A Previous Setting'. You will lose any files you created since that previous time but it does get you back into your drive. Did you not create an Administrators Password BackUp Disc? If you did use that. Good Luck. George

Windows 7 password reset bought at a auction dont know main password

Step 1: Enter Safe Mode

a) Start or re-start your computer.

b) Before the Windows 7 loading screen appears, Press 'F8? to enter Advanced Boot Options.

c) Use arrows to choose 'Safe Mode' when you can see the Advanced Boot Options screen.

d) Press 'Enter' and wait for Windows 7 files to load.

e) Log on with an administrator account when you can see the log on screen

Note: Well, when you are presented with the Advanced Boot Options screen, there are 3 types of Safe Mode. They are the Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking and Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and the 3 options are all available for you. Here above we take Safe Mode as an example, but if you choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt, you'll need to input related to command prompt to reset the password.

Step 2: Reset the forgotten Windows login password in Windows 7

Now you could diagnose and solve some serious computer problems in the safe mode and reset the forgotten Windows login password in Windows 7 as follows:

1. Click 'Start' button, input 'lusrmgr.msc' into the Search box and press 'Enter'.

2. In the 'Local Users and Groups screen', click 'Users'.

3. Right-click the account that you need to reset the password for, and then click 'Set Password'.

4. Type and confirm the new password, click 'OK'. (You can go to 'Local Users and Groups' screen by right-clicking 'Computer' to select 'Manage' on desktop.)

Step 3: Log on your password protected PC again with the new password since you have successfully performed Windows password reset for Windows 7.

I locked my self out of the computer and forgot the password how do I log in

Hello,
If you forget your Windows password or if your password expires, you must reset your password before you can log on to your computer. This article contains two methods that you can try to reset your password so that you can log on to your computer again. These steps only work if you have previously created a password reset disk for the computer, or if you can log on as an administrator to assign a new password to your account.

If you do not have a reset disk or cannot log on as an administrator, unfortunately, you may have to reinstall Windows XP and all other programs that were installed on the computer before you can use the computer again. This is for security. Without these safeguards, anyone could reset a password to anyone else's computer and gain access to private information.

Also there is another way you can solve this issue.
- Go to start and run type in CMD
-Black screen would pop up and do this
net user user name *
(user name means whatever ur username is that appears on your login screen)
after this the computer will ask u to type a password so just type any password. Better to type a really short one becasue when you type the password on this screen you won't see the cursor moving or your password being typed in.
Press Enter after typing the password.
It will ask you to retype the password. Again the password would be visible when you type.
Press Enter and it will tell you command completed successfully. If it does not work then retype the commands again carefully. Just make sure u type a short password, probably a one letter password and u wont have any issues.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

The Blue Screen Your Are Talking About Its UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME and in case of blue screen mouse and keyboard are not detected as WINDOWS are not loading....

There Are 3 Ways To Resolve It But For All 3 Methods We Need The MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP OPERATING SYSTEM DISK...
1st Method Is WINDOWS RE-INSTALLATION. But In This Case All Your Data Would Be Gone..

2nd Method Is WINDOWS PARALLEL RE-INSTALLATION and in this method your data would be saved but you need to install the DRIVER'S SOFTWARE'S and other APPLICATIONS.

3rd Method Is The Easiest And I Prefer Which Is To Repair The Booting Sector.

To repair the volume, follow these steps: (10-15 Minutes)
  1. Start your computer by inserting the Windows startup disks or the MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP OPERATING SYSTEM DISK if your computer can start from the CD drive.
  2. When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to select the repair option.
  3. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
  4. Type the administrator password when you are prompted to do this.

Note If no administrator password exists, press ENTER.
  5. At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed, type chkdsk /p, and then press ENTER.
  6. It will ask u to overwrite the boot sector so press Y and overwrite the boot sector.
  7. type FIXBOOT and hit enter.
  8. When Everything Is done and new boot sector has been written successfully... type EXIT.
  9. Take Out Windows Disk and Restart Your System..
Some things that you should know before you try this solution loadTOCNode(4, 'resolution');
  • If the file system is damaged, you can use chkdsk /r command to repair the volume. However, if you use the chkdsk /r command, you may lose some data.
  • You will need the Windows startup disks or the Windows installation disk. If you do not have them, contact the computer manufacturer for help in obtaining the disks.
  • You will need the administrator password to complete the steps.
To repair the volume, follow these steps: 40-45 Minutes Complete File Repair

  5. At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed, type chkdsk /r, and then press ENTER.
  6. At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to restart your computer.
  7. After you repair the volume, check your hardware to isolate the cause of the file system damage.
If this procedure does not work, repeat it, but type fixboot instead of chkdsk /r in step 5.

Dell Optiplex GX280 Bluescreen and Hardrive problem

Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.

Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.

When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.

If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.

When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER.

At the command prompt, type exit , and then press ENTER to restart your computer.

The system should boot back into Windows.

If that doesn't work follow the above steps again but after you type the Administrator password ...

At the command prompt, type fixmbr and continue the next two steps.

THIS SOLUTION IS ONLY FOR A DAMAGED FILE SYSTEM.
