L37 tv turns off on own and then will not turn back on

My L37 Vizio turned off on its own while watching the news and now it will not turn back on. The amber light is on (normally meaning tv is off), so it is recieving power. I have unplugged the tv and changed outlets on power strip, but the tv will still not turn on. vizio states i need to have it repaired, but warranty is out.

could it just be the power supply, or do i have a bigger issue?

My Dad's TV had exactly the same problem.

The LED glows amber, never turns green, and whole set is dead.

I too replaced the power supply, but the problem still persists.

Now I am looking at 2 boards, the "LCD controller board", which has most of the video I/O, and underneath it is a smaller controller board, "Video Box Board Assembly", which has a single tuner input and an ARM CPU. Either board is over $200.00, so hoping to get the right one before proceeding further.

I just did a troubleshooting session with Vizio as my Vizio will not turn on unless I unplug iy, wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in. This is getting worse as time goes by! The tech made me do a master reset and so far so good! Hold the on/off button in while TV is off for 30 seconds and then try it!

I have a Vizio L37. When I turn on the TV it works perfectly after about 3 minutes the screen goes to green (no picture). However I still have the sound.

My first guess would be your t-con board. The t-con board is the one that transfers teh picture from your signal board to your screen. My second guess would be the siganl board is bad.

Vizio tv

Boy, what luck! Unfortunately both those units have IR receivers that are using the same code of which you can't change, so I would put a piece of black tape over the stereo's IR window, the only draw back is you will have to turn it on manually. Try it and see if it helps and let me know.

LCD controller board location on Vizio L37

Display controller is usually under the Main board which you remove to get access to it. Display controller connects to the suis-boards which then send signal to the screen of the TV.

Vizio L42HDTV10A sound problems

In my case, turning the surround sound OFF is what fixed the problem. The bass contibutes most to the perception of the location of a sound. If surround is ON without surround speakers connected, the internal TV speakers can only take the place of what would be the front speakers in a surround system. So turn surround OFF and set your bass preference wherever you want it. That worked for me.
