I have checked the phone line, and there is nothing wrong with it. The paper will advance, and then stop.....when you'd expect it to feed thru and start scanning, it doesn't move. Then I get a long beep and the led readout says "Line Error".

Re: line error when trying to send a document
Check the line for a dial tone on the machine. Either the handset, onhook or speaker phone button. This will test if any comunictions boards have failed in the machine. If you have a dial tone the fax is ok
Next try a manual transmission. Basically make a normal phone call with for example using the handset but have your original in the fax ready to go, ring the fax number when you hear the other fax pick up you press the start button.

your paper error message means you probably received a document that wasn't the size of paper in the paper tray ,try legal sized paper,to dump the job stuck in your faxes memory ,this
problem happens a lot, theres reall nothing wrong with the fax/printer
Hi There! Comm Error will show on the display if there is an issue with the phone line like an interference or it's not connected directly to the wall jack. What you can do is check if the machine has a dial tone or try to call the fax # where you need to send the fax, just check if it's ringing. Second before loading the paper make sure that the display shows date & time. Then load the document in the tray the display should show enter fax # & start. Start dialing the # then press start.
sounds like you have the fax set to tel mode or the cable is in the wrong connector check the entry point for the fax cable that it is in the line socket and not the tel socket also check that when you are sending the fax that it says load document as it might not be getting the paper set correctly so thinks you are doing a tel call.. good luck A
when machine clear this problem may be solved, First you make setting as i said to machine. Press buttons respectively as i written function 9 * 8 # 7 then start button , it gives DIAG MODE then press satrt, With the help of star button go to memory clear and press start key. machine cleared memory, gives printing of MEMORY CLEARED. this setting will solved your problem.
Ok...so I fixed my own problem. I had printed out a system data sheet on my fax machine and found out that the "error" was in under sending confirn, so I went into my menu to the sending confirm section and turned it off. Then my boss tried sending the fax and it came through like nothing was ever wrong...I think the other day when my Iguana got in my office, he must have done something, as I found him perched on my fax machine....hmmmm. Thanks for the follow-up email.
do you have a seperate fax line? if so check the fax line.
also in the fax menu set up your fax to phone/fax mode, and set up all your fax info.
if you have distinq ring you need to set up your # of rings.
Noisy/faulty phone line could do it causing communication to fail after so many errors (need filter if ASDL), or could be having trouble picking up paper (check by doing multipage copy) or of course it is sending fax prob but I take it you mean customerssss faxssss
