I just turned on my camera and the screen is black and white. My boy friend got me this camera for me a few days ago. I dont know what to do! please help! julia
Re: I just turne on my camera and the screen is black
Try and reset the camera: Take out the battery for longer than 10 sec. And reinsert. If this doesn?t work I believe you should go back to the shop in order to exchange the camera. Good Luck

From camerahacker.com:
1. Hold camera firmly in left hand. 2. Smartly rap front of camera with knuckles of right hand on the "Cyber-shot" logo.
Worked for me :)

Usually it's an lcd burn out where the screen needs replacement. Check the display button if it's just blank then press it to see if it comes on. As far as your friends white screen it not feasible to repair. A good thing to get on any digital equipment is an extended warranty. It does save you in the end when something goes wrong. The limited manufacture warranties are a joke. You should never rely on them.
This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Fuji should fix this for you for free. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you.
This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty.
Good luck my friend.
