Akai dlp power went off at the house due to electric company performing repairs. TV was in off position at the time but now there no indicator lights at all working.

Is there some type of reset?

I have disconnected the from plug for 30 minutes then reconnect but nothing happens.

Today my power went out for a split second and came back on I turn my TV back on it makes a high pitched whining noise and the screen wont turn on. Cant add picture but model number is MW30G71.

unplug your tv. let it sit for a good bit. 1/2 hour did your power just go out or did you have a power surge then no power. surges cause the grid to go down for a second too and that causes problems too. surge protectors are good for everything. also are you on cable? if so have the cable company check they're filters into the house may be an issue but check the tv after a half hour unplgged and then plug in and turn on normally? sometimes it needs a reset time period before the fuses inside will reset themselves.

Our electricity went out for a few minutes, and since then the TV will not turn on. The green light is flashing. We tried resetting it by pushing a pen point into the reset hole, but it does nothing. ...

Your power outage may have been caused by a nearby lightning strike, or any number of
1000 different reasons that cause power surges, brown-outs, voltage spikes, inductive loading,
and/or utility pole breaker trips and resets (this accounts for your power loss (a pole breaker trip),
followed by restoration of power (the pole breaker automatically reset) - even plain old high electrical demand causing an overload due to air conditioning demands caused by hot weather.
When the pole breaker reset, your TV caught a power surge.
Whenever a power outage occurs, quickly power off (or better, unplug) any/all computers, TVs,
etc. that are not protected by surge-protection.
As an electrician, when someone loses an item of electronics concommitant to an electrical
anomaly, its almost
always traceable to a nearby lightning strike (or the power company provided equivalent), accompanied by inadequate surge protection for
the VCR/TV/Computer/Stereo/uninsured valuable electronic item/XBOX 360/Nintendo Wii.
Surge protection can
be provided by the consumer at the power strip (a good one with builtin MOV protection and a
warranty costs $20, whereas a zero-protection 4-outlet or 6-outlet power strip will cost $4-$5).
Your electrician can provide whole-house surge protection where a whole-house MOV-based (metal oxide varistor) surge protector, or per-circuit protection can be installed with
a GFCI breaker (or better, an AFCI breaker) can be installed.
GFCI = ground fault circuit interruptor
AFCI = Arc fault circuit interruptor
Lightning protection is especially important in Florida, which is the "lightning capital of the world."
I've never found a good solution to lightning-fried electronics (random power supply components are destroyed and/or fuse blown), other than renters insurance or homeowners insurance.

Your only real hope for an economical fix is to look for a blown fuse, and replace it.

If desperate to attempt a fix on your own, you could try replacing the entire TV power supply as a module, but even this provides
no guarantee of a fix - lightning damage can extend beyond the power supply.
When traveling, I will always unplug everything before I leave (except the security system),
and also turn off the breakers to unneeded house circuits (which kills the wall switches that
control interior lighting - forcing a burglar to use their flashlight instead of interior lighting)
which is the least convenient lightning protection, but highly effective, and cheap (free).

I have a Mitsubishi projection model WS-B55 that is plugged into a surge protector. The power went off for about an hour or an hour and a half this morning, and the power light is flashing. I called...

First, to answer your last question, not all power outages and subsequent surges are created equally nor are all surge protectors. Also, after a power outage where the subsequent surge is so strong that it got past your surge protector and knocks out your TV and it's never done that before... REPLACE YOUR SURGE PROTECTOR.
However, that being said, in my experience it is unlikely that the TV is going to require a technician. Understand that the person that you spoke with in tech Support is not a technician and is reading off of a list of troubleshooting pages that are more extensive then what's in the manual. What the technician is probably not aware of is that your TV, like most home electronics, has a safety failsafe that requires the device to be separated from power completely before doing a system reset
First, after pressing the button it's supposed to flash for about a minute anyway but I'm assuming that after it's done pressing that the TV is still not firing up.
Unplug the TV, let it sit for an hour, plug it back in (to the wall, not the suspect surge protector). If the light is still flashing, press the reset button again and wait for it to stop flashing and attempt to turn it on again. If it doesn't work, unplug the TV, follow the same steps however, let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it back in. That length of time is not common but some sets do require it.
If none of this works, then I would say that it's time to call a technician.

The unit will not power on. It blinks twice then powers off. Each time I power it on, it blinks twice then powers off. No video, no sound.

B+ over current fault in the power supply circuit, probably a few bad resistors and some switching regulators. Call your local shop for immediate service, its a rear projection TV so it shouldn't cost too much to service this kind of fault. Here's a little trade secret for you, one good way of getting more years of use from your TV is by using a surge suppressor opposed to a surge protector. A good one will start at around $69.00 from BestBuy or Wallmart.
Here's a little basic knowledge on what a surge suppressor is and what it does : Click Here and here's how some will look Click Here.
After you get your TV serviced, be sure to use a good quality surge-suppressor to fully protect your TV from violent AC spikes. Using one will and years of life too your TV :-)

Had a power surge and now the lamp notification is on steadily

This is a common problem and usually shows up when power is interrupted. The capacitors in the micro, digital, and power supply have to be replaced. In my shop, we prefer to send the chassis to Mitsubishi and they repair it. Do you have a local authorized Mitsubishi service center near you?
