Open tray
error is common, even more so on Samsung drives.
To fix this
you usually really need to open your xbox360 so you can get to the disk drive
so you can open it for a self-service.
BUT first try to fix it with a laser cleaning kit, they don't cost much
to purchase and you can get them from most electronic shops and also eBay.
If a
cleaning kit did not work, then the problem may be your tracks, the disk spin
head or the belt that moves the tray (drive belt).
Once you
have your xbox360 opened (lots of good video guides on YouTube on how to open
the xbox360) you will have to open your disk drive.
When its
open, clean the left and right tracks, they can get gummed up with dust, and even
tar if the unit is from a smokers home, when the tracks are dirty, it can stop
the tray going in all the way then games don't play. Also if the spin head is dirty (the plate the
disk sits on to spin the disk) then it does not grip the disk fully and thus
does not spin at full speed, giving you read error. Finally the belt inside the
drive can be removed and can be boiled in water for a minute or to, this cleans
it and brings it back to its original shape, this helps the belt regain lost
grip and can also fix this error your having, but belt problems are more for Samsung
drives.
You should
use rubbing alcohol to clean the internal components of your drive without
causing any damage, you could even clean
the laser yourself using a high quality kitchen roll sheet or micro fiber
cloth, with rubbing alcohol and gently pass it over the lens to clean it. Once you have done all this, close everything
back up and see if the problem is gone.
If your
still having problems then chances are you need a new laser for your drive.
