Question about JVC GR-D270 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Mini Camcorder The tape deck on my mini camcorder will not return back to its home position. I am referring to home position as the position were it is ready to play or start recording, currently the tape deck will open like it is supposed to, but when you put a tape in, it will not do anything. I have tried taking the battery off and putting the selector switch to camera mode and it still does not work, if you have any other idea's or suggestions please let me know. Thanks for your help

My camcorder is spoilt and I am left with many mini DV tapes which I cannot download to the PC without the camcorder. Is there any solution for this?

since it is in digital format a standered VCR wont read them the hi-8 tapes have a bigger VCR tape you can put the hi-8 tape in and insert that into a VCR but the hi-8 is an analog tape and.mini-DV is digital "DV = Digital Video" so a standard VCR wont read them the only way is to borrow a friends Mini-DV camera and copy all your tapes over. they do make a Mini-DV player but even the cheap ones cost more than a new camcorder would! Sorry to hear about your camcorder I hope this helps

Once when this happened to me, I took it to a repair shop and they said it just needed to be cleaned. (Optura PI tape won't eject)

Does this cam, play the mini dv tapes????

If you are referring to the JVC GR-DVL520, yes it does play Mini DV tapes, as well as records to them. It will not play Mini DV tapes that were recorded on an HDV camera. HDV is used by any Mini DV camera that records HD video.

Try a different tape in case the take up isn't working in the previous tape.

Clean the tape heads with a tape cleaner in case there is buildup on the pinch rollers causing the tape to jam or slip.

If those solutions don't work, you should take it into a repair shop to have a closeup view as to what the problem is unless you see something obvious like a spring broken or loose or a bent piece or foriegn objects in the deck.
