the yellow colour and its derivatives (shades of green , orange etc) is not printing on my HP Deskjet 845C. If I try to print text and/or patterns in yellow only, the printer goes through the movements as if it was printing normally, but no ink is transferred to the paper. If I try to print colours containing yellow, e.g. green, then only the blue component in green is printed. Replacing the ink cartridge with a new unit does not improve the situation.
I found this post to work for me when yellow was not printing on my HP PSC750 after using 2 cartridges: "Well if you want to damage your printer use alcohol. But if you want to
make it work then pull the cartridge from the printer and run hot water
on a couple of paper towels leaving alot of hot water in the towels.
Put some thing under them to keep them from staining your counter top
and then set the cartridge down onto the hotwater towel and let the hot
water melt away the dry ink and in minutes you may be printing again if
this is what it is. Be sure and use a dry paper towel to wipe off the
ecess wet before you reinstall the cartridge."

this is because of the low ink in the catridge. normally the colour catridge contains three colour in it. yellow ,blue and i think one more is pink. so in your case the other colours might have finished. so because of that you are getting only yellow. so please replace the catridge with new one and the problem wil be solved
Sounds like you have cyan and magenta ink but no yellow. (You need yellow to get yellows, greens, reds and orange shades.) First try running the printer utility to clean your ink jets, then run a test print. If this does not work then simply replace the yellow ink cartridge.
Hello, this is Harry from www.BusinessSpread.co.uk.
We had the exact same problem when printing, we used 3 different 78 colour ink cartages and they all said 100% full but did not work. We then had a look at the dates on the box and they were all expired so when buying ink from anywhere even PC world or Curry’s always look at the expiry date.
Today I went to PC world and purchased a new 78 ink which said expires July 2011 and it works perfectly fine.
