I have been given a Sony Clie PEG-N760C and cannot sync it with my laptop. I am using Windowns Mail in Vista. I read that the palm is compatible with XP or earlier. Is there a patch or upgrade software available to solve this problem? There also seems to be a problem with the port when I connect it to the laptop via USB. Would this possibly resolve with upgrade software also? Thanks for your help.
I have Vista Home Premium and I hotsync my peg-n760c using Palm Desktop. It came with version 4.1, but it was a disaster. The Cd is old and isn't compatible with Vista. So I downloaded an upgrade from Palm.com and I definitely don't use the Jukebox software that came with it either. Go to Palm.com and download PalmDesktop Win62.exe and install it. It should recognize your USB connection and hotsync immediately. Also, use Windows Media Player and change the files to mp3 by using a free program called Switch. Just google Switch and download the basic program. Then load the mp3 files onto your memory stick in Windows Explorer. Then use MSimport to load the memory stick files into your handheld. Good luck! terymo2

I have a peg-615c, and I just downloaded the new palm desktop, and installed it AFTER I had switched the compatability mode to xp, and selected open as an admin on the normal screen, and under all users... I works great now! OH, it's a free program :) http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/37014_en.html
I had the same problem with my clie peg-sj20 on my vista home basic based laptop. I could not hotsync after installing the original software. I've never tried to use my pda with this setup before so I was trying to find a way to make it work when I found this post, figured I would reply with what I found.
My Sony clie peg-sj20 runs the Palm o.s. 4.1 software and apparently Sony no longer supports this model. So after trying to hotsync and letting the Windows vista install wizard find the proper software, it suggested contacting the manufacturer of the operating system. I went to the Palm websight and downloaded the Palm o.s. 6.2 software which is compatible with vista, even though it doesn't say it supports the sj20. After installing it I performed a hotsync during setup when I was prompted to do so, and it totally worked. I'm not sure if this version works with other applications but it enabled me to hotsync running vista.
Hope this helps someone out there. Good luck.
I had the same problems. I downloaded PalmDesktop Win62.exe update from Palm.com and it recognized my USB connection, did away with the port error and hotsynced immediately. I messed with that thing for 3 weeks before I finally tried the update. It says it's not for the peg-n760c, but it works! I don't think they want you to update, but rather buy a new pda. Good luck! terymo2
No. I don't thiok so.
To connect with windows, the first step you have to intstaled Palm. OS. 4.1. It's the operating sistem to operate your clie palm. I've perobelm laki this before, but it solved.
is easy, I learned yesterday it was reviewing. Just go to: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=PEGT415&upd_id=1037&os_id=10 that you download and then install it and go to this link: http://esupport. sony.com / US / perl / tutorial-display.pl? tut_id = 75 & = PEGT415 CDM. And there's going to solve all
I suggest you create a dual boot situation with your computer, so it will run either XP or Vista. Most computer books will tell you how to set this up (not difficult). As for the software installation CD--check Ebay. People sell them often, whether originals or copies.
are you syncing alot of medai or do you have large files on your handheld? if you do manually delete them from either a memory card or the handheld. this happens to me when i try to hotsync my palm, just unplug the hotsync cable when it seams to stop then reset your device. you could just take out your memory card too.
