Question about Astar LTV-3201 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Tempermental TV Ok so my friend bought me this TV for my birthday in September... ever since I've had it I've ran into the problem with the TV not staying on. The picture cuts out and I get a 1/2 second static sound when it does. Now when the picture cuts out I get 3 different displays (not all at once): (1) Dark static screen with channel number and STD in top corner. (2) A blue (or white) screen that flashes on and off and random intervals. (3) The screen goes totally black as if it were off. Number 1 can be fixed temporarily with power off / power on. Number 2 and 3 I have to flip the switch on the back and leave it off for a few minutes before turning back on. These are temporary fixes and the problem usually returns somewhere between 1min - 5hours. It stopped doing this for about 2 weeks when I changed the location of the TV from one corner of the room to the other... both times the TV is approx. 2 feet from the wall intersection.

Our TV goes black when we are watching it, but the green power button stays on. We unplugged it and waited 10 minutes before plugging it back in and then turned it back on. The ASTAR sceen came up for a couple of seconds and then it goes black again. If we leave it like this for a couple of hours it sometimes turns itself on and sometimes it just stays black.

Same TV. Problem started when the sleep timer screen popped up for no reason at all since I didn't press that button on the remote. I pressed it to go off. Then TV went blank after an hour later. Even the red light for power indicator was not on. Looked dead. A few days later, played with it by unplugging and plugging power socket, on/off switch and button and presto, it came back on for about an hour and a half and then went dead again. This time, despite numerous attempts using the above technique still remain dead. No inidcator lights at all. Called credit card company for warranty since the company had already gone under last year in September 2007.

20" tv goes blk. Started 1st time I used sleep timer. No light to indicate it's on. Have to use toggle switch on back or plug/unplug. Temp. fix lasting less & less time.

Hello Sir,
I hope your tv is the power problem or the main board.
But if this the back light problem then you don't need to repair your tv just sale as part (cause this back light part is hard to find and the cost is high).
You need to sent this tv for inspection. any question call me at 323-767-6030

Tip

I've been unable to play several bought VHS tapes of films, though oddly,...

Vcr's commonly get dirty heads that cause a blue or snowy screen and no sound in some cases. In my experience the rental tapes were common point of trouble especially when you consider the amount of machines that were deployed in use back in those days. Today people run into less issues because they have there own collection and put them to good use. In order to deal with some people's problems there are three approaches to cleaning heads, the first option is to use a wet tape with the provided fluid usually two or three drops will do and run it for ten to twenty seconds. The second approach is use a dry tape with same amount of time as outlined above. The third approach is get a blank store bought tape "T120 2hours" set the vcr to sp and run the tape from beginning to end, this is a good way if you want do more of a deep clean to remove difficult dirty particles that refuse give way. I find the dry tape will give less problems when cleaning and less chance of shredding and easier for people who don't like taking vcr's apart.

Why doesn't Facebook remind me any more of friends' birthdays

You might have inadvertently turned it off

Facebook gives you options when it comes to displaying your birthday. You can elect to share only the month and day you were born, or also include the year. When your birthday rolls around, it shows up in the top right corner of your friends' homepages. While you cannot disable the alerts of your friends, you can control whether or not your friends are notified of your birthday. Make your birthday only visible to yourself to stop friends from getting an alert.

Click on the "Account" icon in the top right corner of any Facebook screen. Select "Privacy Settings" from the list that appears. Click on the blue "Customize Settings" link at the bottom of the "Sharing on Facebook" section. Scroll down to the "Birthday" line in the "Things I Share" section. Click on the gray icon next to "Birthday" that displays the current privacy setting by default, it is set to "Everyone." Choose "Customize" from the drop-down menu. Click on the downward arrow in the "Make This Visible to These People" line to bring up a menu. Select "Only Me" and then "Save Setting."

I bought my elderly dad a bush TV for his birthday. I tried to plug in a set of headphones but also need the sound to come out of the speakers at the same time as my mum also needs to hear the TV. I

Get a cheap set of PC speakers and a headphone jack splitter.(the old TV apparently was designed to not turn the speakers off when you plugged in headphones).

I have the same problem as you. With 'Birthday Alert' you'll never miss another Birthday! Birthday Alert sends you email alerts for upcoming birthdays. It shows you which friends have birthdays coming soon, and lets you manage email reminders to keep you up to date.

I have 2 facebook friends that have the same birthday & only one will show up on my birthday calender that's on my profile page. How do I add the other one?

Your friend has to have their birthday listed with Facebook for it to both show up on the same day. One of your friends has not input his/her birthday yet.
