It appears your orignal download was corrupt. I would suggest you go control panel and using add/remove programs, you uninstall or remove. I suggest a restart after this. Once it is gone, download the program again and reinstall. If the problem is still there, look for a different download site. I would also recommend you run a security scan soon, as the corruption may have given you some hidden virus or spyware. Good Luck!

Hey there Phyre_dancer, Have you looked under my programs for a folder called Ulead, or Nova. If one of these is there, open it up and see if it contains a folder for Photoimpact Pro. If so try to uninstall if such an icon is present in the file. If not and you have no other programs from this developer, try to delete file and see what it does. You may need to use a registry cleaner, to remove remnants of old programs in your system. I hope these suggestions help. Let me know what you discover. Good Luck!

Hey there phyre_dancer, I neglected to mention to look under add/remove programs to see if Ulead or Nova are present. If so delete from there first.

Task bar at bottom with font size on it has gone

The task bar is an important part of the Windows experience. Not only does it contain a variety of information including what time it is and how much battery life is left it's the way most Windows users open programs and documents. As such, the task bar disappearing is a stressful thing, but fixing this problem on your own is possible.

Auto-Hide Sometimes you may think your task bar has disappeared, but it's really just been set to "auto-hide." Move your mouse to the bottom of the screen and see if it pops up automatically. Then check all four sides of the screen. If the task bar was simply auto-hiding, disable this feature by right-clicking the task bar, clicking "Properties" and unchecking "Auto-hide the Taskbar." b> Reboot b> If your task bar disappears, and auto-hide isn't the culprit, the first thing you should do is reboot your computer this fixes the problems in most instances. Only one problem: because your task bar disappeared you can't access the "Start" menu in order to shut down the computer. Instead press "Alt," "Ctrl," and "Delete" at the same time and press "Restart" in the window that pops up after doing so. Your computer should restart, and in most cases your task bar should come back when it restarts. b> More Options b> If rebooting doesn't fix cause the task bar to reappear, your computer might have a problem starting explorer.exe, the program that displays the task bar and desktop icons in Windows. Press "Ctrl," "Shift," and "Esc" at the same time to bring up the System Manager. Then click "File," followed by "New Task (Run)" and type "explorer.exe" in the dialogue box that pops up. You now have your task bar and desktop icons back. Reboot to see if they stick around after rebooting. If not, repeat the process in the above paragraph. When you have you task bar back click "Start," then "Programs," then "Accessories," then "System Tools" and then "System Restore." Restore the computer to a time when everything was working fine by clicking that date on the calendar. Reboot to see if this fixes the problem. If none of this brought back your task bar permanently it may be time to run a repair install. Change My Task Bar b> In Windows operating systems, the taskbar shows your currently active windows and programs, shortcuts to your favorite programs, the time, your volume control, active programs and the "Start" button. You may want to change the taskbar so it has a different look or to customize it to suit your needs when using your computer. Windows XP users have fewer options than Windows Vista or Windows 7 users, but all operating system owners can make changes to the taskbar.

Right-click in your taskbar. Left-click on "Lock the taskbar" if it is currently checked. Otherwise, click back onto the taskbar. Click on any empty area of the taskbar. Drag the taskbar to the position (bottom, top, left or right side of the screen) you desire, and release it. Re the taskbar by moving your cursor to where the taskbar ends. Your cursor will change to a two-way arrow. Left-click and drag the taskbar until it reaches the you want. Move your cursor over the series of separator bumps between the Start button and the Quick Launch menu, and the Quick Launch menu and the active programs section of the taskbar, to alter the of the Quick Launch menu and the active programs area. Right-click the taskbar, and left-click on "Lock the taskbar" once you've completed the changes you wish to make. b> Change Taskbar Options b> Right-click on the taskbar, and left-click on "Properties." Modify the taskbar settings so that it appears the way you like. You can decide whether to show the Quick Launch menu (a series of icons for your most commonly used programs), to show thumbnails for your active programs in Windows 7 and Windows Vista and to group similar active programs, and to automatically hide the taskbar or to always have it on top of other windows. Click on the "Notification" tab in Windows 7 or Vista to modify the way the notification area to the far right appears. Stay on the taskbar tab in Windows XP. Hide inactive icons, and decide which information to show, including the clock or the volume, power and network icons in Windows 7 and Vista. Click on the "Customize" button to specify which programs or notifications should always show, never show or grow inactive with disuse. Click on the "Toolbars" tab in Windows 7 or Vista to specify which toolbars you wish to see in the taskbar. Your options will vary according to the programs you have installed on your computer but may include the Quick Launch, address bar and links toolbars. Click the "Apply" button, then "OK" once you have made the changes you desire. Hope this helps.

My iqon hard drive will power up but i cant access it

Clicking sound on an external hard drive is an indication that it's quiting to work. You mentioned that it's just stopped working, you may need to check the Disk Management of your computer to see if you could still reformat it. To do this, please follow the steps below:

FOR WINDOWS XP AND VISTA:

1. Make sure that the HD is properly connected to the computer.
2. Right-click 'My Computer' or 'Computer' folder and then go to "Manage".
3. Locate and click Disk Management.
4. Then, take note of the drive letters that will appear on the screen.
5. While the Disk Management window is opened, unplug the HD and check which drive letter will disappear.
6. If a drive letter disappears, then that is your external 250GB HD. You may reformat it to make it work again.

NOTE: Reformatting the HD will erase all the files saved in it. You may want to bring your HD in any data recovery center to retrieve the important files. If the HD didn't show up under your Disk Management, then there's nothing that we could do but to bring your HD in to the Data Recovery to save the files.

FOR MACINTOSH OSX:

1. Connect your HD to the computer.
2. Click 'Go' (located near the Apple icon, Finder, File, Edit and View).
3. Select Utilities and then click the Disk Utility Icon.
4. Take note the drive letters and then unplug the HD.

If a drive letter disappears, that's your HD. If nothing disappears, then the computer no longer detecting the HD.

Good luck!

When i click on the icon for photo impact pro the program opens of a brief moment and then shuts down

Are you using 'Vista'? That's the first thing I thought of, since a lot of good software made for 'XP' became either incompatible, or 'manually installable' once Vista came along.
IF you already know how to install stuff using Vista's 'Compatibility Mode', kindly disregard my 'sage advice'...just trying to help here...if NOT, then follow these directions:
IF you ARE using Vista, then try this:
  1. Uninstall it first. If you already know how, then skip on to step '3'. If not, then read on.
  2. Go into 'Control Panel', then select 'Programs and Features', find PhotoImpact Pro, and uninstall it, either by 'right-clicking' it and choosing 'uninstall', or left-clicking it, then selecting 'uninstall' from top menu.
  3. Now that you've uninstalled it, reboot your system (just in case...we ARE dealing with Windows, here!) Leave your 'PhotoImpact Pro' CD or DVD in the computer.
  4. Once Windows reboots, click the 'Start' button, then find and click on 'Computer' in the right column.
  5. Find the 'Drive Letter' your PhotoImpact disc is in (it should say, with their icon). Right-click it, then select 'Explore' from the pop-up window.
  6. You're 'exploring' your install disc to find either a 'Setup' icon, or an 'Install' icon. When you do, Right-click it, then select 'Properties'.
  7. See the little 'Compatibility' tab up top? Click on that, then set everything in that window the same as in the image at this link.
  8. Once done, make sure to click 'OK', then just re-find that same exact icon and double-click it, as if you were just installing normally.
  9. This should help you get it installed in 'Vista Compatibility Mode'.
Hope this helps! All the Amazon reviews said it's great software!

How do I change my pop up settings?

Given below are steps to pop up settings: Step 1 If you are in Microsoft Windows explorer and wish to disable your Pop-Up Blocker, then you will need to click on Tools at the top of the screen, scroll down and click on Pop-Up Blocker and then click to Turn off Pop-Up Blocker.
  • Step 2 In Mozilla or FireFox, the Pop-Up Blocker is within the browser. First you will need to go to your Tools menu and click on Options. From there, click on Web Features and then remove the check from the block that says "Block Popup Windows". Once you have done that and click OK, then you should be ready to view your site with Pop-Ups enabled.
  • Step 3 In the Safari Browser you can change your Pop-Up settings by going to the menu and selecting the Preferences options. Once you have done this, you can then select the Security options. Remove the check-mark from Block Pop-Up Windows and you are done.
  • Step 4 In Netscape you will access your Pop-Up Blocker from the Edit menu. Select Edit, then select Preferences. Next, click beside the Privacy and Security option and you will then see the Pop-Up Windows option.
You can then change the settings as you would like.
  • Step 5 The Google Toolbar also has an icon across the top showing pop-ups that have been blocked. If you are unsure which icon to click on, hover over them first and your browser will reveal what the icon is for without you having to click on it. Clicking on the pop-up icon does allow you to change this setting in the google toolbar.
  • Step 6 jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep6 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a04/rt/4a/change-pop-up-blocker-settings-1.6-800X800.jpg'); }); The Yahoomag-glass_10x10.gif Tool bar will show an icon that needs to be clicked on from the Tool Bar as well. This Icon will look like the one to the side. Click on this icon and you will be able to uncheck the " Enable Pop-Up Blocker" verbiage.
  • Step 7 If you are using AOL, then the tool bar will show the word "Blocked" on it. This is in regards to the pop-ups and will showcase the total number of pop-ups blocked thus far. To change this setting to allow pop-ups, click on it and it will switch from blocking them to allowing them through.
  • Step 8 Virus Protection Software that you have enabled on your computer may also have Pop-Up Blockers within it. You may have to pull up your Menu Page of your Software, usually accessible through your desktop, and allow your pop-ups through your Virus/Spyware Protection.

Locate the "Storage" entry on the left side of the Computer Management window. Click on the black box next to the entry to expand the menu. Click on the "Disk Management" icon that appears below the Storage entry.

Right-click the name of the the USB flash drive that appears at the center of the window. Click on the option labeled as "Format..." from the menu that will pop up. Select the "FAT16" option from the first drop-down menu and click on "Start" to format the flash drive.

    G4 problem

Hi, Try shutting the G4 completely down, waiting about 15 seconds, and then booting the Mac with the shift key down. That should clean up a lot, as it gives a safe boot. Then go to disc utilities and repair permissions. That might clean the whole thing up for you. If sounds like it's a Finder problem. If that doesn't work, boot from Disc Warrior or Tech Tools and run a few tests. Good luck!
