Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer
Can you give me information on how to get the back off this washing machine, and how to correctly get to the coupler. I have the machine laid down on it's front side and can tell the coupler is broken.
Stand it back up. Remove the end caps on the front of the control panel, (there is a screw under it). take out the 2 screws. The control panel will come forward then flip up. Next use a screwdriver to pop out the spring clamps that hold the cabinet onto the frame. They are about 3/4 of an inch wide and about 3 inches from each side. Disconnect the lid switch. Now you can tilt the cabinet away from the back of the machine, while tilting the bottom front of the cabinet will slide out and the cabinet can be set aside. now you will have access to the motor etc. Release the clamps holding the pump onto the motor. Now you should see two screws that hold the motor clamps, one above and one below the motor shaft, remove those. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pop off the clamps holding the motor. pull motor out to expose coupling. Make sure to use part # 285753A. repair sould take 10 minutes.
