Midland 77-118. Three wires coming out of unit red, black, and orange. What is the orange for? Also need manual.

Its like the wiring in your house. That little three prong plug. There are three wires, one black, one white, and one green. The green is a ground wire , the black is neg flow and the white is positive flow. Well the red wire is hot ,the yellow wire is neg flow, and the black is ground. Some times the yellow wire isn't even connected. Look inside your radio and you will only see a red and black wire???you will have to google the radio model as such ( 77-118 owners manual)

Rci 2990 won't keyup

If on all modes check the mic first to see if wired right or wires broken--this should have am-fm-lsb-usb---which works or do not work.

I have 4 wires that came loose on my volume/squelch knob. 2 are black, 1 white, 1 green. trying to figure out where they go.

Nothing Yellow Black
Green White Black
Orange Red

The black wires are both ground connected into the same part in the board. Just connect them depending on length.

This is the picture of the vol knob, with the dial upward looking down on the tabs. The top wires, yellow and black, are for the volume. The Middle row, green, white and black are for the squelch. the orange and the red are the power switch.

On a Maxon MCB-30 cb radio, there are three wires. Red, Black and Orange. Red and black are the power and ground, but whats the point of the orange wire and what do you connect it to?

Hello stud

The orange wire is for memory retention for the last channel you were on if the red wire loses power as in switched on and off with the car ignition just hook up the orange to a 12 volt source that is on all the time. By the way those are some neat little radios wish I had one.

How do i find the FM frequency for a Connex CX-4300-300 CB radio?

FM is just a form of modulation, not an actual frequency. The frequency doesn't change between any of the modes (LSB, USB, AM, FM, CW).

For example, if you are on channel 19 (27.185MHz) on AM (Amplitude Modulation,) switching to FM (Frequency Modulation) mode you would still be at 27.185MHz, but using a different form of modulation.

Where do the 3 wires in back of my Cobra18wxst11 go? Can I use a cigarette lighter plug?

From www.Cobra.com

"Where do I connect the three power wires? (radios with 3 power leads)
Answer: Connect the black wire to chassis ground.

Connect the red wire to a switched +12 volt source, such as the fuse for the AM/FM radio.

The orange wire is for the memory retention of your CB radio, and should be connected to a constant +12 volt source. The fuse for the brake lights is usually a good choice.

With the radio wired as above, the radio will turn off when the ignition is turned off. The orange wire will provide power to the radio so that it remembers the channel.

If you are installing your Cobra CB radio in an application where you wish to utilize a cigarette plug to power the unit, connect the black wire to the negative lead (side terminal) on the plug. Connect both the red and orange wires together to the positive lead (center tip) of the plug. Your unit will function properly this way but will not retain the channel memory. When power is applied your radio will come up on channel 9."

How do I wire this to my truck?

Hi,
The 'Red' (+'ve) wire connects through the ignition to a power source so that there is only power through it when the ignition is on. The 'Orange' wire connects to a (permanent) power source, and the 'Black' (-'ve) wire connects to any part of the vehicle's (metal) body or chassis. This only applies where the vehicle is a 'Negative to earth' vehicle.
