Well, you have to open the entire printer and reach out on that area to free the cartridge, it is caused by an obstruction on the gears of the head cleaner... remove that and have to wash it with water and then let it dry... place some grease to the gears so movement becomes smooth and last longer.

Keep me posted if you still have problems.
Hope this Fixya the problem.

How do you change the printer cartridge, please? I have mislaid my manual.

First make sure that the printer is on and the front cover and output tray are open. Next open the paper output cover by rotating it down towards the output tray. The ink cartridge carrier should move to the ink replacement position on the right side of the printer. Push the cartridge lock lever down until it clicks to unlock the cartridge that you need to replace. (The color cartridge is on the left.) Pull the cartridge towards yourself to remove it. Now open the replacement cartridge packaging and remove the protective tape from the cartridge. Push the new cartridge fully into the open spot from removing the old cartridge. (The label should be up and the copper covered sections should be down and facing forward.) Now push the cartridge lever lock up to lock the cartridge in place. If the lever doesn't move, check that the cartridge is fully forward in the slot. Finally close the paper output cover. Wait for the printer to complete the print head clean cycle before using the all-in-one.

Note: only remove and replace one cartridge at a time. Work quickly to minimize the chance of the ink system drying out after removing the protective tape.

Canon has the steps to change any ink cartridge on the Pixma MG4250 support site in the FAQ labeled Replacing an ink cartridge. The full text and pictures are available here: http://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg4250.aspx?type=faq&search=1&searchurl=/support/consumer_products/content/faq/?itemid=tcm:14-1276595 . I have a canon pixma mp250 printer and i can't find the manual to explain how to replace the black ink cartridge.

To change the ink, make sure that the printer is on (green light is lit). Then lift up the entire scanner unit and latch the support on the right. Wait for the cartridge carrier to move into the ink cartridge replacement position. Open the cartridge cover on the right hand side by pinching the front and the tab on the top together; then lift it upwards. The cover will rotate towards the back of the printer. Pull the empty cartridge back out of the slot. Open your new cartridge and peel off the protective tape. (Do not touch the electrical contacts or the nozzles.) Place the new cartridge in the slot (slide it forward). Then rotate the cartridge cover back down until it clicks. If you do not need to change the color cartridge, lift up on the scanner unit until the support unlocks. Then carefully lower the entire scanner unit to close it (don't pinch your fingers or drop the scanner unit). If the orange Alarm light comes on, check that the cartridges are correctly installed and the cover is in place. Wait until the printer recharges ink system before sending a print job or copying a page.

Canon has the documentation for the MP250 on their site: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mp250#BrochuresAndManuals (for the manuals) .

I hope this helps.

How do I change the printe ink cartridge?

Hi There!
Here's what you can do to replace the cartridge
Just open the top cover together with the scanner cover. When the cartridge carrier move in the middle of the printer, it's the time you can replace the catridge, then lift up the top cover for the cartridge carrier & then the cartridges.
In replacing the cartridges, you just have to push the cartridge down the carrier, you will hear a snapping sound then return the top cover for the carrier and the scanner bed.
Hope this helps!

Make sure the printer is turned on before loading the cartridges. Open the cover and make sure that the cartridge carrier moves all the way to the left before trying to insert the cartridges. When inserting the cartridges into the carrier, the end closest to you has to be pushed up to lock them into place.
