Question about Refrigerators

Hotpoint side by side Model HSS25GFPJWW

I have a 2 yr refrigerator that makes ice, but when you push the ice dispenser the light dims and neither crushed or cube ice comes out. the water will dispense but no ice. The dim light with gradually get brighter as it would normally if it was dispensing ice. Any idea as to what the problem would be? I have the same problem with mine, hope we could get a detailed answer from some kind soul to help us out. Hate to pay a tech to come fix it if it ends up being something we could fix ourselves.

Well I think it's time to call someone to check the electrical or mechanical parts of the refrigerator.. The freon inside the cooler tubes is already low and it needs to be refilled, I know you can't do it, there are a lot of tools needed to that.

Anyway, check the cooler knob if it is loose... that might be faulty, you may see it turning but inside it is not, "a loose-thread" maybe.

I wish I could do it for you... good luck...

Hi there

you should let an electrician have a look at that because the lights that dim only means that there is a grounded wiring somewhere inside your fridge. what you can do is just look for an open wire. thats it. apparently, you could d this yourself, but be careful. hope this helps

Clogged water filter or faulty water valve. You have a dual water valve on that unit which explains why the ice maker is working and not the dispenser.

Ice maker for Model HSS25GFPJWW

Probably, but sometimes frost builds up in them and makes them unable to turn. They are gear reduction motors so you may not be able to turn it by hand, but if you take the ice container out, hold the door open, the door switch closed and press the ice dispenser and try to turn it whichever direction it's trying to go, you may be able to free it up. If that doesn't work you'll most likely need a new auger motor.

Ice maker not working

The icemakers won't make ice if the temperature is not below a certain set point. Varies between manufacturers. Try making the temp colder.

Clicking, no water or ice, power problem?

first i wold check the micro switch that the acuator paddle trips next i would replace the watervalves which is the most likely cause of this finally id replace the control bd as some early ges had a promblem with this there is also a solinoid in there for opening the ice chute door but that wouldnt affect the water but may cause a voltage drop if its getting bad id change the water valves the ice is on one valve the door water is on the other

Your problems are the power board for sure. I have the same refrigerator and have read dozens of forums and advise pages looking for answers. If you let the problem countinue your fridge will completely stop cooling and all your food will be trash as has happened to me.

Symptoms: Fan in the back starts to make click or flopping sound as it tries to start up. Ice despenser doesent despense ice. water works sometimes. Eventually you notice your food defrosting partially and then refreezing as the defrost timer stops working which is controlled by the power board. Light dims and pulses when you hold the Ice despencer in. If you remove the light for the dispencer your water will work fine as long as the fan isnt making the clicking noise. Fan will eventually start up and run.

FYI GE customer Care is useless
