The only time garmin gives free map updates is if a new map becomes available within 60 days of the first time your satnav accesses satellites. If you think you're entitled to a free update go through the update procedure as described at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps If there's an update available click on get update. If you're entitled to it free it will bring you to the download page. If you're not entitled to it free it'll bring you to the payments page.
The only time Garmin give a free map update is if a new map comes out within 60 days of your satnav first accessing satellites. To see if you are entitled to one at present go to www.garmin.com Click on the myGarmin tab at the top of the screen and log in. Click on the myMaps tab at the top of the page. Your map should be shown on this screen and also if there's a map update available. If there is an update available click on get update and follow the prompts. If it's free you won't be asked to pay. If it's not it will bring you to a screen where you'll be asked to put in your credit card details.
If there's no update available at the moment you may still be entitled to a free update when the next map update becomes available. There's usually an update in February which has not yet been released so keep an eye out for when it does.
If you need to update your maps, check this site for downloading instructions and downloadable ISO files for installing the more current maps. They may or may not be free, depending on your previous map purchases. They also sell the upgrade software, but its a little pricey. They are located in Australia.
First BACKUP your SD card. Go here and download latest version of TomTom HOME >> For the PC or for the MAC , You can download tomtom HOME here >
I would recommend you only do a map upgrade if you definatly need to as looking at other posts on this forum lots of people have problems after trying to update maps. Updating maps is NOT FREE , you have to pay for updates and after downloading updates you need to reactivate the map with your product code . Only do an update after backing up your existing maps other sie you might have trouble reverting back if the download goes wrong.
I had the same problem how ever after downloading all the software updates and pretty well evey thing that was available on the tomtom home sight suddenly the map was there. It could be a soft ware bug.
