Question about Sangean ATS 818 AM/FM/SW Radio

1 Answer

Bad adapter? My Sangean works fine on batteries, but when the ac adapter is used, the unit only hums. Is this the adapter, do you think? Thanks.

Dear Kerman,

Sounds like AC hum on your adapter; please find out the adpter voltage and polarity, on the adapter tips, maybe you user manual might have the information. Also the current rating of your adapter.

Try a replacement of the same rating and tip polarity.

That might solve the problem.

I have humming noise from earphones connection Minidisc MZ -N1

Are you using an AC adapter, or running it on batteries? If 'wall-wort' AC adapter, that's the issue. If you're running it on batteries, sounds like a bad ground, try different earphone/headphones and see if the hum goes away. With the 2nd pair of headphones/earphones, does the hum go away, or if you wiggle the headphone jack back and forth a little bit?

Dell xps m1210 won't power up with new battery. Check notes.

If it is working fine with a fresh battery then it is not a motherboard problem. It is either a bad ac adapter jack on the motherboard or the actual ac adapter cord is not working. Try cables2go.com as they have replacement ac adapters for almost everything under the sun. Hope this helps.

Sangean ATS-803A - no audio

If its not a micro-p glitch, sounds like the radio was subject to a spike or surge wile plugged into the AC adapter. If the "power" light stays on all the time, thats what happened. Believe me, I was Sangean America's tech from 1990-1995.
Rob
The fix is to replace a transistor, or fet in the main pwr supply. (Close to where the adaptor plugs in.)
I wish I could give more details, but its been 14 long, long years.

Hum from dell laptop power adaptor when using a sound system

Hi,
as i understand you are facing this hum on all the three AC adapters,
there could be any of the following reasons for that
1) If the laptops were bought within the same period and all the AC adapters came from the same faulty lot

2) Or the AC adapters are made in this way so they produce this hum always

Try calling their Tech support helpline for Dell and see if a replacement can help you or if the AC adapters have a design fault of producing hum is their a solution that they have for it

If you Think my solution was of any help please do rate me

Good battery installed, but no power

Hi- I think you might have a defective battery, or a problem with the battery compartment inside the case if you don't show a charge when the set is plugged into the AC adapter. I do repairs on minidisc recorders so if you would like further information, email me at: masondixon@netzero.com.

Battery compartment disconected by the AC adapter

That could be any number of things. Broken solder joint on the board where the battery terminals connect, dead batteries, and now that I think about it, if the connection is broken or loose in any way inside the hole where the ac adapter goes, it's not going to work with batteries. It needs that completed circuit regardless if there isn't an ac adapter inserted.

Battery back needs to be connected to the DVD player when charging. connect the batter pack to player. Run the DC/out from the battery pack to the DC/in in the player. plug the charger into the wall.

if that does not work, you have a bad battery

Remove the battery compartment door and the batteries. There should be a small hole marked "reset" under the upper battery cradle. Press (gently...until it clicks) and hold for 5 seconds. Replace batteries and try again.
