Question about GE GSH22JSRSS Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator
Recently we noticed that while the freezer was cold enough, the fridge was merely a touch cooler than room temperature. We tried adjusting the temperatures with no effect. A repairman suggested that the freezer was too full and thus blocking the vents. He suggested that we leave the unit unplugged for 24-36 hours.
I am skeptical...Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
You most likely have an automatic defrost problem. When frost accumulates because of a failed defrost component or components, it restricts air flow to the fresh food side. Leaving the unit unplugged will melt the ice and restore air flow but you obviously need to address what is causing the build-up. Often, but not always, the problem is a defective defrost heater(s).
