I am having trouble connecting my BD 390 wirelessly with my Linksys WRT54G2 modem. Other computers in the house see the network, as well as the neighbors network, but the 390 doesn't see either of them and i can't get connected. Do i need a new router? Thanks

  • Anonymous Jan 01, 2010

That didn't seem to help. I unplugged the router, and after plugging back in the BD saw the network, one bar, but couldn't connect. Additional 'searches' by the bd saw nothing. I agree the BD is the problem, but looking at customer reviews, the BD is a mixed bag on wireless connectivity- i have tried everything they have suggested. Except switching from WEP to WPA(?). How easy is that?

Had a similiar problem with my BD390... Had 2 bars and router's SSID but not able to log on. Tried downgrade of firmware (Oct09) from LG's support page via USB stick and corrected it. Followed up by upgrading firmware to current levels. Webcast and DNLA feature works nicely. Now to conquer region 0 function...

Probably not the router, hard power cycle the BD and search for networks again and see if it finds any.

  • Anonymous Jan 01, 2010

Very simple, go into the setup of the router then wireless security, I'm not all that familiar with that model of BD. If you are only getting one bar then that certainly isn't helping.

Like I said not being that familiar with that model im working on assumptions only. Some wifi devices do not play nice with different forms of security, to test that remove secuirty temporarily and see if it connects. WPA/WPA2 is the prefered security.

You can increase your range a bit on the router by reducing the multicast rate.

Failing that, get a wireless bridge or run a wire.

Hi

The Router configuration is not that much difficult, only few thing you have sure,
1) Correct ADSL Connection User name & password,
2) Chose unique ip address in All host.

Follow the mention bellow instruction to configure and connect to Wifi Router,

  • Plug the network cable ( Mine was Blue ) which comes with the Router Box pack to your computer. The other end goes into any of the Router Ethernet Port ( 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 )
  • Now type in 192.168.1.1 in IE or Firefox or any browser. You will prompted for password which is admin. You must be logged into Linksys Router.
  • Now since your ADSL modem is also having the same IP , we will change the IP address for WRT54G2 Router to 192.168.5.1
  • Under Setup >Basic Setup look for Network Setup and Change Router IP. Change to 192.168.5.1 and Save changes.
  • Since the IP has changed you will need to close the Browser.
  • Sometimes the IP doesnt change automatically. Do a IPCONFIG / RELEASE and then IPCONFIG / Renew

I have a linksys wrt54GX2 wireless G router and I would like to use it as an access point to pick up our internet signal from downstairs. The modem in use is wireless motorola SBG900. I have a desktop and...

With that particular model you wont be able to use it as a wireless bridge. You can however run an ethernet cable from the modem to any point in your house. the SBG900 i believe has wireless built into it, so you may need up with 2 wireless networks.

Hope that helps.

Problems with WRT54G2 and DNS

If there is only zero on the ip add, sub mask etc then it would never work.Make sure your router is connected to a modem and that the latter can be hooked directly to a pc with cable and test if there is an internet connection. If there is a connection go back to your pc and connect to your wireless. Then go to start>cmd, a black screen would appear and type the following : ipconfig /iprenew .Then afterward type ipconfig and see if the zeros' you mentioned earlier changes to a value to the format of x.x.x.x .This should solve your problem.

Setup linksys wrt54g2 broadband router with prolink h9200 modem

You probably will need to make some configuration changes in the Linksys router, or in your computer, or both. Your are correct that you connect the Linksys WAN connection to the LAN connection of the modem. If your connection type is PPPOE, you will need to set that up in the Linksys with the username and password provided by your ISP, so the modem will allow you to login and connect to the internet. If that is how you were connecting to the modem with your computer, you will need to configure a new LAN connection in the computer in order to connect to the Linksys. You can then configure the Linksys through your web browser to connect to the modem.
