Buzzing is a bad disc capacitor. you will have to remove the covers. plug it in and find the bad capacitor. not easy. desolder bad capcitor and replace

FIND SOFTWARE FOR GATEWAY FPD2485W TFT LCD Monitor

That model should be plug and play with windows, no disk should be needed. Just plug the monitor in and turn on the PC, it should show "New hardware detected" and load right up.

I have gateway FPD2485w have take to repair they telling me that main circuit board is bad very cost prohibit to fix. if the monitor turn off it will not come back on wait for some times it will...

what they told you is correct, the power board is failing. but the board can be repaired most often verry easily it is a common problem with gateway. i have repaired several of the 21" gateway monitors. I would be glad to do the repair for you.for a small fee.

Use an RG6 adaptor to and install it to your RG6 wire. Then, plug it at the back of your monitor.

I'm pretty sure the inverter board is bad. you have to replace it if you can or you can let someone else do it. you should find some on ebay for about $80 (not too bad compared to the cost of the monitor: over $200). but its up to you. But first, you should find out if you are still under warranty. good luck. please rate!!

Gateway FPD2485W

i had same problem main board had a bad 3.2 volt regulator
number on regulator was 1117 3.2 there were 2 of them and 1 on the usb hub board so i un soldered the one from the usb and replace the one on the mother board. must be very carefull with ribbon going to front bezel controls easily torn

Slow start

(I'm copying a guest's comment above. What Gateway told him does seem to work - although in my case, the monitor was slow to start when plugged directly into the wall, and it was immediately fixed when I plugged it back into a heavy duty power bar.)

hey, I had the same problem. Gateway told me "Plug the monitor power plug directly into a wall electrical outlet
or a different wall outlet by removing any surge suppressors." I did that and it works. It might be a certain kind of power bar they do not like. It worked for me so try that and see if that helps.
