Question about Zanussi ZWC1300W Front Load Washer

2 Answers

Water levels I don't think my machine is filling with enough water. The level when full is never above the bottom of the door. Generally, it seems to wash ok but I sometimes get a build up of soap powder deposits on the clothes and this can burn holes. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Most front loaders never fill above the bottom of the door. Try using a lot less detergent or making your own enviromently friendly powder (I have been using home made detergent since I bought my front loader) As for the burning adjust your temperature to suit the clothing and may press the extra rinse button. If you see suds through the door you are using too much detergent. You can also pour a litre of vinegar in the detergent draws, this will help free any scale build up. If you want the ingredients for the detergent let me know.

How do I increase water level in my wfxd8400uc?

I get this complaint a lot from home owners , I take it you have just got your first front loader washer , and you don't think it adds enough water to wash anything , this is the water saving feature of front loaders
but a simple test I tell most folks to do if they think there water level sensor is not working right
set washer to auto load sense on water level , normal wash cold water, permapress add nothing to drum completely empty! no soap unless you have a auto soap dispenser then it wont start to you add some and close door

start cycle wait till fill is complete just as it goes to agitate stop cycle (plug can be pulled for this if buttons have locked out )and open door see if water level is two fingers wigth under door seal , if its close your ok if it's a long way off then contact a repair department to look at auto sense water level

When I start the washer, it fills just fine with no problems but once it starts the cycle, it gushes water from the bottom of the door

Check the bottom of the plastic inner door. If there is a crack or a gouge, have it replaced. Also check the rubber door boot for holes above the water line

There does not seem to be enough water in machine to wash with

This problem could have a number of different causes. Unless it is a machine specifically designed to operate at reduces water levels, the likely cause is that the sensor that determines how much the machine fills up is somewhat blocked or going bad. The blockage would prevent accurate sensing of the water level. See the explanation below:
The level sensor uses a pressure switch to detect the water level in the tub.

Water level control switch
This switch controls how high the tub fills with water.
washer-level-hose.jpg
Water level control switch plumbing
The big end of the hose connects to the bottom of the tub, while the small end connects to the switch. As the water level in the tub rises, water rises in the hose also; but the air in the hose is trapped, so as the water rises, the air is compressed.
washer-level-switch-open.jpg
Inside the water level control switch
Inside the housing of this switch is a little piston. The pressure in the hose pushes the piston up. When it is raised far enough, it pops up and closes an electrical contact. This set point, where the contact is lost, is adjustable, and in the picture you can see the cam mechanism that is connected to the adjuster knob on the control panel of the washer. As the cam turns, it presses a spring against the cylinder, making it harder for the cylinder to pop up. This means that the water level will have to rise some more before the pressure in the hose will be high enough to trigger the switch.

Is it getting enough water?

For front loaders, they usually have the level underneath the door, they use small amounts of water, but they spin so all the clothes do get
soaked with water.

I can't seem to be able to control the fill water level. No matter what level I choose, it fills above the highest level. I set it on lowest level and it fills to the highest level or above. 745G Model...

This is caused by a faulty water level switch. It is a diaphragm-like device that has a small clear plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level increases, so does the pressure on the air in the plastic tube and when it reaches a certain level, it activates the switch to turn off the water and signals the timer to start the appropriate cycle. Check for any obstructions in or damage to the plastic tube. The switch can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty switch. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Whirlpool Duet GHW9400 Water Level Seems Too Low

Scott,
Believe me, if the water level were ever several inches above the glass, you'd know about it 'cause it would flood your laundry room. Seriously. See? That rubber door boot/seal is not water tight (like a submarine) when the door is closed and locked, it's water "resistant".

Front loaders often appear as though the level is low, but they are designed this way. The clothing actually tumbles through the water as opposed to soaking in water like a top loader.

All of that to say that you have nothing to be concerned about. Your water level is fine.

SG

p.s. If your water level switch had failed, as you suspected, the water level would be too high and leak out the door.

Door locked and takes water will not empty or spin

turn the machine off and check under the lid.
the pressure switch hose may have fallen off. its a clear tube that fits onto a nozzle on the underside of a plastic circular unit about 40mm diameter on the left hand side. this should shut the water off when filled to correct level.
to get the water out in any case put the drain hose end lower than the water level into a basin to syphon it out. lifting the hose above water level will stop it till you empty basin.

I have a 4 year old Maytag Performa washing machine. Regardless

Hi!!! You seem to have a bad water level switch..If you turn on the water and water just fills in and doesn't stop then you have a bad water level switch..If you just turn it on and water enters then you have a bad water valve..Good luck..

Not enough water

run the machine empty. if the water comes to the bottom of the glass window, you're fine. No you don't need to see the soap suds either, too musch soap will cause the machine not to function properly and won't spin out all the water
