Bat bios checksum problems solve

Step 1:
Update ASUS BIOS b> Insert bootable floppy disk or USB drive. Copy the updated BIOS file to floppy disk or USB drive.
(Note: BIOS file and boot files should fit on a floppy disk. If the BIOS file is too large to fit with boot files, consider using the EZ Flash method described below.) Insert the motherboard support CD into optical drive. Copy AFUDOS.EXE from CD to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the DOS prompt appears, type the following: afudos /i[name of BIOS file]For example, "p4c800b.rom" might be the name of the new BIOS file. "afudos
/ip4c800b.rom" is the command that will install it. Wait. Your monitor will display the update's progress with a series of messages: "Reading file," then "Erasing flash," then "Writing flash." The "writing flash" message will be followed with a percentage counter that tells you how far the write has proceeded. The final message will be
"Verifying flash." DO NOT switch off or reboot at any point in this process or you will ruin your motherboard. After the update is complete, the utility will return to the DOS prompt. Remove your floppy disk and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Save and reboot. You're finished. b> Update Using EZ Flash Copy your new BIOS files to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the system is at POST, press "Alt" + "F2" to enter EZ-Flash. Alternatively, on late model motherboards you may press "Delete" to enter BIOS setup, then access EZ-Flash from the "Tools" option on the navigation bar. (Select Tools > ASUS EZ Flash 2 > YES) Wait for your system to check current BIOS information. Insert your floppy or USB with the new BIOS file. Select the drive letter with the BIOS update file, then select the file. Wait for your system to check the update file. After the file check is finished, click "Yes" to update your BIOS. Wait. Let the update procedure run until it finishes. Do not switch off or reboot or you will ruin your motherboard. When the update is finished, remove the floppy or USB drive and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Reboot. You're finished. b> Update Through the Internet If it isn't installed already, install the ASUS Update utility. You can either download it or use the copy on your motherboard's support CD. Close all Windows applications if any are running. Launch the ASUS Update utility from the Windows desktop by clicking "Start>Programs>ASUS>ASUSUpdate>ASUSUpdate." The "ASUS Update" main window will then appear. Select "Update BIOS" from the "Internet option" drop-down menu. Click "Next." Select the ASUS FTP site nearest you, or choose "Auto Select." Click "Next." From the FTP site, select the BIOS version that you wish to download. Click "Next." Start the update. Wait for it to complete.

Acer aspire turns on but nothing on the screen

Hi;

This happened to me twice ( got two net books).

You need to follow up these steps:
Updating the BIOS will require a USB flash drive to store the BIOS information on during the update. To perform the update to the BIOS:
1.Go herehttp://support.acer.com/us/en/default.aspx and download the latest BIOS for the netbook.
2.Extract the files from the downloaded zipped BIOS file.
3.In the Dos_Flash folder, rename the BIOS file from 3310.fd to ZG5IA32.FD, in all capital letters.
4.Copy ZG5IA32.FD and Flashit.exe to the USB flash drive
5.Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged in.
6.Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
7.Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together and press the power button.
8.When the unit's power light comes on wait a few seconds and release the Fn and Esc keys.
9.After the keys have been released the power light will start to blink.
10.During the BIOS update process the display will be blank.
11.Let the unit run and after approximately 1 to 7 minutes, the unit should reboot and the BIOS will be updated.
If the unit fails to reboot, or the BIOS was not updated sucessfully, try the steps again. If the unit continues to fail to reboot, the unit may need service.
Good Luck

How to update bios

To find the current BIOS version, follow the steps below:
  1. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS screen by pressing the F1 or F10 key at the first screen.
  2. Write down the BIOS revision number from the Main page. You will use this number to see if HP has a later version available.
    1. Go to the HP Software download page
    2. If you are presented with a page to enter your model number, type in your model number. For example, Pavilion p6230f or TouchSmart 600-1050uk.
    3. Select the version of Windows the computer is using.
    4. Click the BIOS link.
      • If a BIOS update is not listed, HP does not have a BIOS update posted for your computer at this time.
      • If there are several BIOS updates available for different motherboard names, you need to find out what motherboard is installed in your computer. To do this, turn off the power to the computer, remove the side panel, and read the name printed on the motherboard. The name of the motherboard should match or be similar to the name of the download link.
      • If a BIOS update is listed, continue to the next step to download and install the BIOS update.

Click the download link. The instructions for downloading and installing BIOS updates vary. For most computers with Windows XP, download the file, open it and follow the on-screen instructions. For many computers before Windows XP, save the downloaded file to the hard drive, insert a formatted disk, open the downloaded file to copy the BIOS files to the disk, and then restart the computer with the disk still in the drive. The instructions on the download page may be different so carefully read and follow the instructions on the download page and in the installation setup screens. If a 251 or CMOS Checksum error occurs after installing the BIOS update, perform the following steps:
        1. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS screen by pressing the F1 or F10 key at the first screen.
        2. Press the F5 key to load the default BIOS configuration.
        3. Select YES by using the arrow keys, and then press Enter .
        4. Press the F10 key to save the settings and exit.
        5. Select YES by using the arrow keys, and then press Enter .
When the BIOS update is complete, the new BIOS revision number is updated on the Main BIOS screen.

Acer one laptop want boot. it keeps looping back to the same screen.

Hi Gibbs,
Just go to the acer website and http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_one_150.html and d/load the bios update 3309, open the folder and copy two files to a formatted fat usb stick. Rename the file FLASHIT to FLASHIT.EXE and the second file 3309.fd(bios file) to ZG5IA32.FD rename them precisely like that, please check your spelling is correct. Insert the usb stick into the usb left hand side make sure the charger is plugged in . Hold down keys fn+esc and power up the laptop, when the power led begins to blink release the two buttons and press the power button just once, observe the usb stick flashing indicating it's flashing the bios, please note this can take a few attempts, I once struggled for a few hours until I finally tamed the beast :) be patient okay, I would like to point out if you wish to update within winxp use the same bios update 3309 , extract the zipped files to a formatted usb stick and rename the two files again but DO NOT REMOVE or interfere with the other files in the folder , with the laptop up and running open the folder and click on the Insysdeflash file only within the winflash file, this will flash your bios within windows and update it to the latest version, I read that flashing it when using the fn+esc keys merely restores the bios , I have tested this and mine updated to 3309 only when I flashed my bios within windows using the complete d/loaded bios update as mentioned . It will be worth reading the read me file to see what has changed in this bios version, I can tell you that for those out there that have password issues i.e. hdd set, the need to enter password with upper case is not a requirement more and there are a lot more fixes too, enjoy and I hope this bit of info was useful :) --- regards

My acer aspire one 532h-2db blank screen but the power is on. please help me! thanks.

Hi,
Thank you for contacting Fixya. This is Anil.

I understand that the Netbook starts but there is not display on the screen.
It may happen due BIOS failure on the computer. Try updateing the BIOS. Updating the BIOS will require a USB flash drive to store the BIOS information on during the update. To perform the update to the BIOS:
Go http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/ and download the latest BIOS for the netbook.
Extract the files from the downloaded zipped BIOS file.
In the Dos folder, Copy Flash.Bat; Flashit.exe; Nav50.fd to the USB flash drive
Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged in.
Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together and press the power button.
When the unit's power light comes on wait a few seconds and release the Fn and Esc keys.
After the keys have been released the power light will start to blink.
During the BIOS update process the display will be blank.
Let the unit run and after approximately 1 to 7 minutes, the unit should reboot and the BIOS will be updated.
If the unit fails to reboot, or the BIOS was not updated sucessfully, try the steps again. If the unit continues to fail to reboot, the unit may need service.

I believe the above resolution should resolve the issue, however, if the issue still persists, please contact us. We will be glad to help you.

Thank you. Have Great Day.

Regards,
Anil.B.R
