I have a faded picture on my Magnovox 55 inch

Does it come and go? Or is it like this all the time? If you bump the side of the TV does it change the symptoms? Thanks Lou

There is a problem with your audio amplifier. There might be a loosened terminal of either an IC or a transistor component in the audio section. You can use a soldering iron to reconnect the loosened terminal.

Lamp is getting weak and TV shuts off and turns on itself because of weak lamp in TV that you see picture and sound fades away for some time until TV reboots.
Replace lamp in TV to solve this issue. Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual and its an easy work.
Please buy Sony original lamp for your Tv safety.

Did you recently move the TV, or do you plug a game system in and out posible its as simple as the internal connector lead poped off from use...

I would suggest that you check the HV output first this could be a sign of a decrease in HV and or a focus problem. Check the trippler, The IHVT, and the focus block (this is usually attached to the IHVT). Then I would check the actual CRTs (items to check: filament voltage, HV at the HV anodes, and screen grids of the CRTs). If you do not have a background in electronics, I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician examine your TV set.

it will be within the tv itself you may want to have a service tech take a look at it

in the circuit board labelled "power on"it is a tacking change that switch.

color is reddish and dark

If the picture is dark or messed up too bad, the magic focus will not function, are all the primary colors faded? RED GREEN BLUE? You might have a bad CRT, would call a service man to check out.
