Problem with Flat Panel Televisions

Vizio TV Stopped Working

Yeah, I know you hear that type of phrase a lot. Let me clarify. My Grandfather's L37HDTV10A decided to cease to function on Christmas. When you turn it on, it flickers very quickly, then merely displays a faded black screen. None of the control buttons will respond, not even the power (Remote and on TV), have to unplug it to turn it off. What part is most likely to have failed. I have already unplugged for 24 hours to clear its protection mode, but that didn't help.

maybe its the Y or X Sustain its depends on your picture

You need to open up the set and measure the DC voltage on the backlight inverter board to see if you have the 24vdc after the picture goes out, if you do have the 24vdc, then the problem is in the inverter board, if 24vdc is gone then it will be in the power supply. parts: http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=l37hdtv10a&limit=200
