The Favourites icon wasn't highlighted when I turned the TomTom on. Eventually by a quirk of fate it came on but I had lost all the data that I had installed (I have a TomTom Go 730)

I don't think there is an option to delete an address or your recent destinations. If you really want to delete an address, because nobody needs t know, the only option is to set back to factory options. But that will also deleet al your settings and favourites.
If you want to edit (and or delete favourites) there is a menu optie in Change preferences called Manage Favourites

If you want to hide your destinations, you could protect your device with a 4-digit password, but for that you must connect the device to a computer and use TomTom Home.
In the menu preferences choose Set Owner.

I think that just means there are no favourite destinations.
Just add a destination and save it as favourite. The button should be enabled again.

How can I delete a Favourite?
1. Tap the screen to bring up the Main Menu.
2. Tap Change preferences to open the Preferences menu.
3. Tap Manage Favourites.
Tip: Tap the arrow to move to the next page buttons.
4. Tap the Favourite you want to delete.
5. Tap Delete.

Visit www.tomtom.com and download Tomtom Home 2.5 for your system. You will need favourites stored to access favourites tab and likewise with the home tab. If you believe that your installation of the CD went bad uninstall Tomtom Home first before visiting www.tomtom.com .

look for a small hole which should be a reset switch, get something thin, like a pin or stiff bit of wire and put in the hole, you should feet it click. this should reset the unit, but will keep all stored data, favourites, etc

will not connect or connect?

Same here but I moved the file "MapSettings.cfg" out of my map folder (it is in the SD card). Then TT One starts again normally but I have no clue, how I can get my "Favourites" back to my updated TomTom?
