Frigidaire side by side doesn't make ice

Turned off fridge and defrosted freezer. When I turned power back on 2 months later to fridge/freezer, I can't make ice....although the water is on and the arm bar is down?

How long does it take from starting start to make ice...24/48 hrs ? Is there something else I should check/switch ?

Ice maker does not make ice although water still dispenses.

I changed the water filter on upper front fridge side and now ice maker does not fill with water while water dispenser works fine. The ice maker works if I manually fill it with water.

If the Temperature in the Freezer is not cold enough, the Ice maker will not make ice. Make sure the freezer is below 10 degrees or so. Zero is where you want it for the best ice production. What was the reason for defrosting in the first place? Should be frost free?

I am getting ice build up on the freezer fan of my frigidaire FRS26R4AW6. This happens about once a month. I have to remove the inside freezer panel and remove all the ice so the fan will work again. It...

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Frigidaire side by side freezer - LOUD noise...

It sounds like the evaporator fan is hitting ice that is built up on the evaporator coil. When it's making the noise, open the freezer door and see if it stops.
(Most models are wired so that the evaporator fan cuts off when the freezer door is open.)
Check the inside back, lower panel of the freezer for ice built up or frost on it. If there is, you have a defrost problem that is most likley a bad heater. It's located around the coil inside the freezer behind the panel you will be looking at. The defrost problem would explain the freezer not freezing ice cream.

Frigidiare PLHS39EESS9 Ice build up in bottom of Freezer

I had the same problem with my Jenn-air side-by-side

Your freezer has a defrost cycle and when the freezer temp is set too cold, your drainage pan and tube freezes up (behind the back panels in the freezer) and when that gets full it spills over too the bottom of the fridge and keeps building up until you notice.
  • Un-plug fridge and put your food in coolers or another fridge.
  • Defrost the freezer, remove the ice from the bottom.
  • Remove the back panel/s (in the freezer).
  • Check the drainage pan. If it is iced up, you'll have to carefully remove the ice and check the drainage hole.
  • If the hole is iced up, so is the first 1-2 inches of the plastic tube leading to the main drainage pan behind and under the fridge.
  • You can use a hair drier to speed up defrost.
  • To defrost the hole and tube I used round ended metal (nut pics or beater attachment ends- avoid sharp objects) heated up in boiling water and gently forced down into the hole and tube until defrosted.
  • Check flow(by pouring warm water) down and looking behind and under fridge(with flashlight) to see if flowing into main drainage pan.
  • Turn up your freezer temp and check with a thermometer. Your freezer temp was probably set too cold
Mine is going on 5 months with no problem. If this continues, it might be the defroster.
Good Luck!

I have lots of ice freezing to the back wall of the freezer side.

it may not be working or it is not set to cycle often enough.you can also check for air leaks.a constant air leak will cause a lot more ice to build up.

Frigidaire FRS26ZSGRefrigerator is no longer cooling, and the freezer side has a little frost/ice at the back of the inside compartment and is about as cool as the refrigerator side should be.

Your auto defrost is not working. remove the rear assembly inside the freezer and melt any builtup ice with a hair dryer. Then check the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. If OK then check the defrost timer located either in the fridge compartment behind the temp control or under fridge in frount behind grill. A continuity test is good for timer contacts. Heater is typ. 30 - 40 ohms. Thermostat will read short short below 35 degrees and open above 45 degrees. Timer motor winding has a series capacitor and must be tested as such. Watch out for stalled or slow running motors that look OK. PS. : QUICK TEST - The timer can be turned with a screw driver through a service access hole. With the back - of - freezer plate off turn timer till it clicks and you hear compressor turn off, this is the defrost cycle (7-10min). Use it to see if the heater is getting hot.

If the frost build up is on the back panel of the freezer then it has a defrost problem which causes a no cool situation. Let me know more about this frost buildup and what you have done.

Fridge problems - frigidaire

Sort of sounds like the adaptive defrost board is bad and you are not going into a defrost cycle. Do you have ice build up on the lower interior freezer section? Are the vent slots full of frost/ice? Ideally, pull the freezer shelfs out and take the little aluminum panel off the interior back to look at the coils. Are they basically a block of ice and frost? The problem happens when the unit doesn't go into defrost cycle and the coils freeze up. That blocks the air flow in the freezer so you get frozen food at the bottom but soft stuff at the top. And the frige just can't get enough cool/cold air from the freezer section to cool anymore. Power surges or blackouts, etc. can just destroy the defrost circuit board. Without good air flow the unit is not going to cool properly.
