When I cut on the television I hear the program then before the screen comes into focus it makes a cracking sound and goes to blue screen.
If I cut it off and back on quickly the picture comes in. Can you help?
I had it repaired for $145.00 and now it is working like new. There was a loose connection and it needed to be cleaned due to having a lot of dust inside of the cabinet. The $145.00 paid is considerably less than what it would have cost to purchase a new television.

There are many cause of dark picture symptom of standard television.First thing to do is try to adjust the screen control adjustment located at the flyback at the lower parts. There are two flyback adjustment the focus and screen adjustment. The upper level is focus and the lower is screen control.
If check also the CRT socket board section. This CRT board is compose of high voltage terminal coming from the high voltage supply.Check if there's a cold solder in CRT socket terminal and other parts around the CRT socket. The heater supply, the RGB cathode supply, and the screen supply are the supply of picture tube to be lights up.So try to resolder those parts of the TV.Avoid short circuit in the PCB board.Hope it will help you.Thanks..
I had a 26 inch Mitsubishi that developed problems as it aged. Whenever it went into a diagnostic mode the power light would blink and the set would go through a series of screens to self-test color, focus, sound, etc. Usually it would then reset itself and run fine. Once I had to have it serviced and they replaced a mother board. Eventually (after about 14 years) it just died.
This need an adjustment in flyback screen to make it higher so picture must seen.Open your TV go to the flyback there in the flyback body you can see a little rotary nab for "focus" and "screen"Just only adjust the screen a little until picture comes out.
The sound that you hear is coming from the sound detector not working or not receiving any audio. If the set is set to a second audio (SAP) program this could be you trouble. Some programs are broadcast this way. (such as Spanish for Spanish speaking people. Check you audio program settings.
At the rear of the tv there may be two controls on the right hand side marked "screen" and "focus".If the set is newer, you will have to remove the cover and look to your right. You will see a dark object with a black or red wire coming out of it's top. That is your flyback transformer. On this you will find these two controls.Adjust your focus with the one so marked.Be careful to only adjust this control while you watch your picture clear.PROMPLY put the cover back.
blankenship, the "IK circuit" is blanking your screen, only "fix" is temporary, remove back of tv, and on rear right side (facing into the back of the set) you can see 2 philips type plastic screws mounted on the flyback transformer, one is focus the other is screen, do not adjust focus , turn screen control clockwise slowly until you get white retrace lines on screen, then turn counterclockwise until retrace lines disappear, this increases drive from tube to IK circuit, will last anywhere from 6 months to 18 months and then it`s replacement time, questions? e-mail me back. good luck, BMW Rider
On the back of the set, look for 2 controls labeled focus and screen. If the TV is working but you cannot see the picture, try turning the screen control up little by little and the brightness should come back. If this works then make sure the focus control is set so that the picture is nice and sharp.
You didn't say whether the screen is black or not.
If you have a black screen you may be loosing horizontal drive. There is a small inductor (coil) which is in series with the base circuit of the horizontal output transistor which may have a bad solder joint causing your
You probably need to have a tech check it for you. A lot of RCA's have in the past had bad solder joints.
