You must de-solder the output IC first. Then I would suggest that you remove the heat sink by removing the philips screws holding it to the pc board. you will find white heat sink compound on the bottom of the heat sink. clean this off and remove the output IC. put some heat sink compound on the new IC and install in in the holes on the pc board. be careful removing the solder on the pc board. I like to use solder wick. Install the new IC and solder it up as the old one was. remember to check the convergence in both analog and digital, as you have to converge both for it to remember the settings. Hope this helps. Convergence alignment is off. How do I fix it? I idont have original remote for tv.

Almost any Mitsubishi big screen remote will work for this, no real way to attempt to adjust without one

If convergence is really skewed it will not align--see attached photos.

Convergence problems are common in these sets--it can be a do it yourself repair if you are handy and I have start to finish instructions for most of these sets.

Let me know if the photos look anything like your issue, you are going to need a Mitsubishi remote in any case to adjust.

Here is another similar problem with a Mitsubishi Rear Proj. TV and it has some things to try and an estimate if that is the problem.

You could also try messing around in the menu for convergence adjustments. Usually it will let you adjust at 8 points on the screen.

Double image on picture model # ws55511

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

How do you replace the convergence part on a Mitsubishi big screen tv Model WS55511? The new part has prongs on the bottom and I don't know how to attach them.

they have to be soldered in place after you de-solder the old ones. Radio shack has a de-soldering iron with a rubber bulb that makes this easy. Then solder your new ones in use a pencil iron 30 watt also available from radio shack. Use heat sink compound on the back of the ICs where they contact the heat sink. This compound is also a Radio shack item. Just be careful not to bridge any of the pins together with solder. Check your solder with magnifying glass before powering it up
