Which convergence part are you talking about? I have a color problem on my Mitsubishi model WS55511. The green color is way out in left field.

They have to be soldered in place after you de-solder the old ones. Radio shack has a de-soldering iron with a rubber bulb that makes this easy. Then solder your new ones in use a pencil iron 30 watt also available from radio shack. Use heat sink compound on the back of the ICs where they contact the heat sink. This compound is also a Radio shack item. Just be careful not to bridge any of the pins together with solder. Check your solder with magnifying glass before powering it up

The pic is off there is bowing at the top and

Picture becoming distorted at the top/bottom of the screen is due to the convergence circuit going bad, and is a common issue with big screen projection TVs.

The convergence circuits will need to be repaired, which will generally require some soldering and ordering new parts for ~$75. If you want to get a TV technician to repair it then you will probably be looking in the region of about $300 for a repair.

Here is a link to repair guide for a Mitsubishi TV. Obviously a different model, but the convergence circuits are generally the same for most makes/models - this will give you an idea of the work involved to fix it: http://www.techlore.com/article/22530/DIY-Repair-Replacing-Convergence-IC-s-on-a-Mitsubshi-TV-Set/

We have a 52 inch rear projection Mitsubishi not sure of the model number and the picture is starting to go blurry with reds and greens at the bottom of the screen

Here is another similar problem with a Mitsubishi Rear Proj. TV and it has some things to try and an estimate if that is the problem.

You could also try messing around in the menu for convergence adjustments. Usually it will let you adjust at 8 points on the screen.

Double image on picture model # ws55511

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

How do you install the convergence part on a Mitsubishi WS55511 big screen tv? The part has prongs on the bottom but I don't know how to attach it.

you must de-solder the output IC first. Then I would suggest that you remove the heat sink by removing the philips screws holding it to the pc board. you will find white heat sink compound on the bottom of the heat sink. clean this off and remove the output IC. put some heat sink compound on the new IC and install in in the holes on the pc board. be careful removing the solder on the pc board. I like to use solder wick. Install the new IC and solder it up as the old one was. remember to check the convergence in both analog and digital, as you have to converge both for it to remember the settings. Hope this helps. Convergence Problem?

Convergence problems are what you have possibly a pincushion error. Either way if you have to have a repair shop do the repair, you should look at replacing the old TV.
