I have a JVC I' Art AV-32f734. When you turn on the tv you can hear it,
but there is no picture at all. I pushed the menu button because I thought
the brightness was turned all the way down; but even the menu will not show.

Re: tv picture is black, sound is fine
Sorry, no easy answer here. On an older set this would be
espected and not worth repairing, but you should take this to a TV shop
for troubleshooting. Most likely culprit is the flyback
transformer and/or the horizontal deflection.
Hope Ya Fix It.

Good Day sir/maam, my guess are several, lets start at the common ones, make sure that the AV cables are good. you can try swapping cables to make sure. If possible try the cables on other units such as any DVD player. There is a possibility that the sound jack, is bad, try to vibrate the plugged cable, and see if the sound goes back if it does, you need to solder the terminals. Worse is the Amplifier section of the TV. does the TV sound normal on broadcast? check the volume, mute. or the TV setup. hope this helps. if you have additional info please feel free to ask again, let me know any progress. thanks
The clicking sound is the TV trying to restart itself. It generally attempts this several times before giving up. The blinking code indicates the type of error (error codes are documented in the manual for the TV). The most likely cause is a burned out bulb, but could be something else.
If it is a bulb, it is usually replaceable without a service technician, and at a cost far less than $450.
civilman, the first set has either no high voltage or is collapsed vertically, until someone checks for high voltage there is no concrete answer, the AV27730 is vertical collapse from your description, either the voltage to the vertical IC is missing or the vertical IC has failed, not a big deal cost-wise, hope this answers your questions, if not e-mail me back, good luck, BMW Rider
the tv turns on fine,
but after 5 - 30 min or so, "sometimes MORE " the picture all of a sudden go's black. Sound is ok
it is 100% loose contact problem.
1 please check for any connector or print for loose.
2 in signal processor ic there might be loose.
remember there is no component failure.
From what you describe, a solder joint has probably cracked loose in a power supply or deflection circuit, which is quite common. Since you do sometimes see a good picture, all of your major components are fine. Repairing cracked solder joints is a very easy procedure and definately worth fixing on a 32 inch TV. The first 2 digits of the model number indicate the size of the TV.
