SanDisk Sansa e260 4gb Restarts over and over

I have a Sansa e260 4gb and I was turning it on.

I pressed some of the buttons (Next, Play/Pause, Previous.....cause I was bored...), while it was starting up and then the screen stayed on its Sansa logo then fades into all white and repeats the Sansa logo and white screen fade.

I tried turning it on and off at first but that didn't work.

When I try to regularly connect it to the computer it still restarts over and over so I can't connect.

I've tried Recovery Mode and it says "USB cable connected Enter USB2.0 MSD mode", then when I try the Remove and Repair options it still doesn't work.

I've also tried disassembling it and taking out the battery for a few minutes and it still does that restarting thing.....WTF?!

help, please.

That only goes to Recovery Mode.

It can only go back to factory defaults if you use the Remove then Repair options on the Sansa Device Recovery Setup.

    And I’ve already tried…..and nothing’s happened.

    Thanks anyway.

Hey, do I press the Record and middle buttons while on or off?!

    "Hope this will actually work."

One day when listening to my SanDisk player it just froze. I waited until the battery died to try and turn it on again. When the battery died I turned it on and saw the Sandisk logo then it faded away and came on again repeating this process. I tried everything removing the battery and all the other restarting tips. Help a sister out cause I really miss listening to my music.

When I had my e260 repeat the turn on sequence I had to reformat the unit and download new software from the help desk at Sansa.

This was the fix that finally did it- had to reformat all my data so it was lost, but unit works fine now.

Thanx. Now can you walk me through the formatting steps?

  • Ty09 Feb 18, 2008

I tried every solution and FINALLY I found one that works. All you have to do is download a firmware updater. You can find it on the Sandisk website or just type it in on any search engine. When its finish downloading just connect your SanDisk player and it will update by itself. And soon you will be listening to the sounds of the Best Rapper Alive Lil Wayne lol.

Easy to fix. simply you have to set is back to factory settings. to do this you have to plug it into your computer, then push the hold button so the orange is showing. next you want to press and hold down the record button, and then press and hold down the power button at the same time. this should reset it back to factory defaults and you should be good to go.

best of luck : )
