Question about Lexmark X1150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Computer will not completely read cd.

Brand new Dell. Have had printer about 3 years. I still have the cd to install program,but it will not install.

    When I put the installation CD into my computer, it says my computer cannot read the CD because it is not formatted for windows. I brought the CD to a different computer, which read it just fine. I think it's just my computer. Is there any way to download the installation software directly onto my computer rather than using the CD?

    We no longer have the cd to add the printer to a different computer. Can install the printer without the cd? Where do we find instructions to add the printer without using the cd?

I had to do a system restore which completed without problem or error. As I was instructed to reboot, I did so and the system started to go through the start up but I got an error that said something like "Windows installation not complete" and it freezes. I can't boot up in any form.

When you say it will not install do you mean the software stopped during install? Did windows not see the printer? With your computer running. Connecting everything for the printer. Connect the usb cable to pc & printer. Last thing to connect should be the power. When you connect the power cord & turn on the printer. Windows should show an icon by the clock. This icon is windows found new hardware. If this does not come up than your printer is either not connected correctly, you have a bad usb cable or usb port is not seeing the connection. Try another usb port. Each company has their own way to install printer software. Most want the printer shut off. During the install of printer software, a window will open and ask you to connect the printers usb or serial connector to pc & turn on power. The software will finish. Others want you to install the software completely into windows. When you shut down windows than you hook up the printer & power. If everything above failed you can try connecting the printer to another computer & you can try another printer for your Dell. I know, who has something extra like a printer you pc but this is all about trial and error.
Hope one of these suggestions work for you! Lastly, new Dell! You should have free support through dell even for things like this. Luck!!

Hi

You don't say which operating system you use, how long you have had the printer or whether the scanner has ever worked previously.

There may be some corruption in the software.

Start > Control panel > Add or Remove (Programs) > (uninstall a program) > Highlight Dell Programs > Remove all components > OK > restart computer > use printer CD to carefully reinstall all the drivers and applications for both printerand scanner, without missing any tick/untick option boxes.

Wireless printers are first installed with either a USB cable connection to the computer or a LAN cable to a Wireless Router or Wireless Router/Modem. Once the installation is complete, the cable can be disconnected.

If you have no CD, download and install drivers, applications and any available firmware, updates or securirty patches from:

Put this site in your favourites and check regularly for new firmware, updates and security patches to download and install.

When I try to scan or print a message comes up telling me to ck power and usb connections. I have unplugged and restarted computer 4 times and still have problem


It could be a communications error message, the printer is not communicating with the computer.

  • Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Disconnect and then reconnect the printer power cable.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Remove and reinstall the printer software

  • If your printer does not function properly or communication error messages appear when using your printer, you can remove and reinstall the printer software.
    1. Click Start®Programs or All Programs®Dell Printers®Dell Photo AIO Printer 962®Uninstall Dell Photo AIO Printer 962.

    2. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to remove the printer software.

    3. Restart your computer before installing the software again.

    4. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD, and then follow the instructions on the computer screen to install the software.

    If the installation screen does not appear:

      1. In Windows XP, click Start®My Computer.

    In Windows 2000, double-click My Computer from your desktop.

      1. Double-click the CD-ROM drive icon. If necessary, double-click setup.exe.

      2. When the printer software installation screen appears, click Install or Install Now.

    How to install printer


    First thing to do is install your drivers and/or software for your printer on your computer. Do not connect the printer to the computer until you are finished loading these files.

    If its a brand new printer, it should have came with a disk to install the software. Find the disk and put it in your CDROM on your computer. The computer usually recognizes the CD automatically and the installation program will appear on your screen and give instructions to follow. If your computer does not auto recognize the CD and start the install then you need to manually locate the program to start it yourself. To locate the installation file on the CD double click "my computer" from your desktop and find the drive that represents it. Your CDROM should be either "D" or any letters in sequence beyond that point. The name of the install program should show up under the drive letter that represents the CDROM. When you locate it, double click on it and find the application for installation. Double click on the install file and then just follow the prompts to complete it. After the installation of the software is complete, connect your printer to your computer and turn it on. Your computer will automatically recognize the printer and tell you that your device is connected and ready to use.

    I just bought a new dell 580's and it won't reconize my printer a Dell 922. isn't it aplug and play?


    You need to install the program from the CD that came with the printer OR download the software from dells website and install it.

    Even thought its a dell machine and a dell printer, the drivers still need to be installed for it to work.

    if you don't have the cd you can obtain the program from http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/

    go to Dell websitr and downlowd the updared programs and driver for the All In one printer, the problem might not be your laptop, but your printer and the software having a connection issue. check with Dell.

    Color printer won't print color


    Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
    Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

    My printer won't work after install


    Hi, I would suggest you update your printer drivers, even though it may be fairly new or brand new, try this, follow instructions exactly as written, do not use installation cd:

    Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - . Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

    If your printer does not function properly, or communication error messages appear when using your printer, you can remove and reinstall the printer software.
    1. Click Start®Programs or All Programs®Dell Printers®Dell AIO Printer 946.

    2. Select Uninstall Dell AIO Printer 946.

    3. Follow the instructions on the computer screen.

    4. Restart your computer.

    5. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

    If the installation screen does not appear:
      1. In Windows XP, click Start®My Computer.

    In Windows 2000, double-click My Computer from your desktop.
      1. Double-click the CD-ROM drive icon, and then double-click setup.exe.

    Usually you can download complete drivers and scanning applications from the manufacturer's support web site. I usually throw my CD's away and download the most recent drivers and software off of the site - even when the printer is new the drivers on the manufacturer's site are usually more recent than the ones on the CD.

    Follow these steps in order to resolve the issue:
    Stop the Print Spooler Service: 1) Click Start. 2) Type ‘cmd’ in the Start Search box.Search results should appear. 3) Right-click on ‘cmd’ in the search results, and select Run as Administrator.The command window will appear.4) Type ‘net stop spooler’ into the command window and press <ENTER>.The Print Spooler service should now be stopped.
    Delete the Printer Drivers: .
    1) Click Start.
    2) In the Start Search box, type ‘C:WindowsSystem32SpoolDriversw32x86’ and press <ENTER>.
    3) Delete all the files and folders in this directory.
    NOTE: If the folder will not delete, rename folder to w32x86.old.
    Remove the Dell printer software:
    1) Click Start.
    2) Click Control Panel.
    3) Click Programs.
    4) Click Programs and Features.
    5) Click the software related to the attached Dell printer to highlight it.
    6) Click Uninstall/Change.
    7) Follow through the prompts in order to remove the software.
    8) Restart the computer.
    At this point, the user should install the latest printer software from http://support.dell.com and be able to print successfully.
