Question about Computer Associates Unicenter SQL-Station 7.0 Debugger Option for PC

1 Answer

SQL Station 4.1 and 7.0

I had the agent for 4.1 installed on one of our database servers, and then tried to update it to 7.0. After that, began getting "looping chain of synonym" errors. Tried uniunstalling one, then the other, then installing one or the other, etc, but I am hosed with the looping chain whatever I do. Struggling through the srv_msg.log, but unsure what to do.

No I didn't. Is that really needed? These are busy servers, and shutdowns are a big deal.

Yes we have redundancy, but it still takes and act of God to initiate a deliberate shutdown/failover here. And I am one of very few users here who uses SQL Station, so my reasons to push for the shutdown won't carry much weight. Still, thanks for the advice!!

After wandering through the maze of CA support, I was finally able to get a full resolution of this one. There is a patch for Sql Station 7.0 (7.0.4). I applied the patch, unistalled and reinstalled the agent, and now it works fine! No cycle of the server power was needed.

I hate to ask this question, but did you cycle power after unistalling both agents and then reinstalling either agent?

Unless you like playing in the register, (with the possibility of system crash), recycling power is a much better option. The system will remove what ever DLL's are not being used. You may try looking in the config to disable the DLL, but you will still have to restart to enact.

    You don't have reduntant server?
