Afraid the set has run in 4X5 mode for to long, If the Pix does not fill the entire screen it will burn the CRT's, usaly the blu and the green, This is covered in the owners manual and not covered by any warentee. So it's about a $700.00 mistake

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Panasonic model TH-42PW4 manufactured 2001. TV cuts out and goes into stand-by. Sometimes only bottom half of display works. Can hit on button and it will come back on, not dead yet. Dennis

Well Dennis I do not want to discourage you , But it is a problem with the power module or the the board

just for kicks have you seen if the remote Power Button is sticking or the TV
I know this sounds crazy but if the remote is sticking it will send an IR signal
to shut off/stand by

Thank You

Rca scenium 52" has light bar area down each side

I take it that you have watched many hours of 4x3 video on this 16x9 TV . What you see is evidence of screen burn, like they used to warn about with the old "pong" type games with stationary objects. The 4x3 pattern is burned into the phosphor in the projection tubes. the area of the burned pattern is not as efficient as the unused areas that make up the 16x9. If you watch enough 16x9 it may even out somewhat, but will never be perfect. Replacing the tubes will fix it, but they're pricey, and you may be subject to it happening again, depending on your viewing habits.
