Intermittent HSDPA coverage using Sierra Wireless 860 card???

I am wondering if others are experiencing poor coverage using this new wireless 3G card? My connection seems to drop at least every 20 - 30 minutes. I also notice that I frequently only have 1 - 2 bars of coverage in areas where i Have in the past enjoyed good voice and data coverage. I have also used an older SE GC83 EDGE card in the same area and enjoyed rock solid coverage. Another issue that I am experiencing is that when the connection drops, I have to completely shut down the AirCard 860 Watcher application before I'm able to reconnect. I have exactly the same issue with my Sierra 7.2 Wireless mobile express 34 card and it isn't a coverage issue - I travel Australia extensively for work (State Capital Cities predominately) and it makes no difference. Every time I connect, I get 20 minutes maximum before the internet drops out. I have talked to my provider, Bigpond, and they are aware of the issue, suggested a couple of Vista patches from Microsoft which didn't work - I am totally frustrated with it.

It's quite cool and fast as described, I used the Vodafone Mobile connect HSDPA and I can confirm the good performance.
One serious issue are the costs, as you pay for the downloaded MB once you exceed your free data limit,
Not sure if you want to use it privately, then you need to monitor the amount of downloaded data closely otherwise you will be poor very soon :-). Check at the Vodafone Home page the costs.

How to unlock a wirelessierra AirCard® 860 for use with tmobile

Call at&t, tell them you bought it from a third party. As long as it is new at&t (att in lower case) or Cingular, doesn't appear on an active account, have a pending contract attached or a past due amount on the account, you should be able to get it unlocked.

Going from USB to PC card

It may not be compatible with either software version or it's possible the version of "driver installer" is only compatible with the USB, If you'd go into device manager on your PC and make sure you see drivers for the modem, network adapter, ports and usbs for the 860 you should be able to set up a dial up connection. This will help you do that. https://www.wireless.att.com/support/tutorials.do?tutorialPage=page2&universe=att&deviceId=8330&tutorialsCategory=Connection+Methods You also may want to take a look at this article https://www.wireless.att.com/support/tutorials.do?tutorialPage=page2&universe=att&deviceId=8330&tutorialsCategory=Getting+Started&tutorialId=214910
