AGFA no longer supports the scanner I am on a mac I use vue scan to access the scanner and it was working fine. one day it just stopped. now the computer can not find the scanner i think because it is not going into the ready mode. it used to go into ready mode before the computer was turned on.

I have the latest version of vuescan / apple system profiler can not find the scanner / i think the problem is in the scanner not the software / it used to go into the ready mode with the computer off now it does not i think it needs to be in ready mode to be found.

OK now how do i fix the scanner so it will go into ready mode??

  • herringbone Jan 30, 2008

yes how do i fix the internal error

  • herringbone Jan 30, 2008

My AGFA ARCUS II scanner has an internal problem. when I turn it on it is unable to enter into the ready mode.

  • herringbone Jan 30, 2008

this is a scsi device I did all the basic reinstalls and trouble shooting of the software/computer includeing the scsi drivers. the scanner is not getting into the ready mode despite all the foreplay. i really believe that a component in the scanner has gone down not letting it get fully in the mode.

  • herringbone Jan 30, 2008

i have tried them and was told to "contact AGFA"
AGFA no longer supports the scanner and are no help at all.
when i turn it on the lights blink and it tries to get going but stops and the only light left on is the power light there is no excessive or unusual noise

  • herringbone Jan 31, 2008

OK I think you might be on to something. i just found a manual for this scanner and they do mention the lights a a problem source. So to answer your question no the lights do not come on and no there is not alot of noise at all as the scanner barely gets going when it stops

i tracked it down to a bad bulb works fine now

Hi there you could try plugging the unit into an other USB port reinstall the drivers as it may not be recognized by your computer.

Thanks J

HI I wonder if the scanner carriage is stuck sometimes the bushings on the runners come out check the metal bar to see if there is a bushing sat freely on it if so that bushing locates in the scanner carriage.

    Thanks J

I'm surching installation software for agfa duoscan

Agfa discontinued its consumer scanner product line (SnapScan, DuoScan, Arcus), as well as its digital camera product line (ePhoto, StudioCam) in September 2001. Therefore, we are no longer able to provide any support. Agfa does not keep digital cameras or scanners, nor spare parts for these products, in its stock. A number of companies (such as VueScan) offer drivers that should allow older scanners to work with recent operating systems.

The solution is to buy a new scanner.

Good luck

Hi!

You can use Hamric (VUSCAN) software with new SCSI card. This scanner will work in Windows 7 32 Bit.

I have used it.

I need the power and connection wire specifications for arcusII agfa scanner.

My Arcus II is 20 years old. I don't know when Agfa stopped servicing their scanners. Mine uses scsi connections and it's connected to Mac G5 OS 9. My driver is Fotosnap. I have the original book and loose leaf.

How to change lamp in AGFA Arcus 2 flatbed scanner?

http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/scanner/agfa/arcus.htm#a2lamp

  • Turn off the scanner power switch and disconnect the power plug. Wait at least 15 minutes to allow the unit to cool down.
  • Unscrew the two screws at the back of the base.
  • Pull the SCSI board out enough to disconnect the ribbon cable that threads through the opening in the base (on the right).
  • Remove the two screws from the upper portion of the back of the base.
  • Remove the Transparency Option (TPO) from the base.
  • Remove the two screws from the top back of the base. These screws will be visible when the Transparency option is removed.
  • Remove the two screws from the top front of the base and lift the plastic housing off the scanner.
  • Move the carriage optical assembly backward until you can reach the lamp.
  • Remove the two screws from the top of the optical assembly that covers the bulb and remove the black cover.
  • Lift the lamp from the socket, working one end, then the other.
  • Replace the lamp with a replacement lamp. One replacement lamp is provided with the scanner and others are available through Agfa Parts Order.
  • Return the lamp cover the original position and replace the two screws.
  • Replace the plastic housing and replace the four screws holding the housing.
  • Thread the ribbon cable of the Transparency Option through the base and plug back into the SCSI board.
  • Return the board to the base and tighten the two screws. This insures a slack cable that won't be punctured when screws are put in to attach the transparency module to the base unit.
  • Replace the two screws in the back of the base to secure the Transparency Option to the base.
