I have external speakers boston Acoustics Digital BA735 which do not produce sound on certain internet sites like you tube and such. I get sound through them when playing windows media player or when I insert a CD into my computer. I want all my speakers to play for all sound and not just my monitor speakers to play at certain times. Can you help. My sound card is Realtek AC97

Re: external speakers do not play
It is not an issue with the speakers or the sound card as you get sound in media player and also while playing cd's.
It could be the volume settings on the player tht the websites use to play the audio or the video,

seems a silly question but I have to ask, has the monitor ever produced sound? Also have any leads been moved recently?
If the computer is well used it's worth checking that the audio lead from the monitor is in the right 'hole' in the pc, easiest way to do this is play something and then move it from hole to hole until you hear noise.
Finally it is (remotely) possible that its a driver issue, check in computer management looking for any question marks in device manager, if it is a missing or corrupt driver then you can get a fresh and up to date driver from the manufacturers support site (check google for this)
Its worth trying an updated driver anyway, no harm in getting a newer driver anyway.
Is it just internet videos? If so, you might need to upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Flash. If it is all sound you'll need to check the wired connections, check that your sound card is properly installed and working in the device manager, and make sure the sound is turned up in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" Control Panel.
yes and no. wou will need a vga to RCA video adaptor, then you will need to get something to play the sound through. after thats sorted out it should work. I use my monitor to play my xbox360 using external speakers
make sure windows volume control is up. its the speaker next to the time and date ,on tool bar ,bottom left normally.
play a song or video or such. then check the cable in back of monitor it has a plug/connector that looks like a headphone jack /plug follow it to the back of computer its color coded. be certain the speakers have power if needed they will plug into monitor dc jack if the speakers are removable. and check the vol control on the speakers.
