Well, you might have to go to family settings and change some things in there.
Go to privacy an friends and there is voice and textt and stuff.
make sure it is set to everyone and you shuld be to talk to everybody from then on..
if that is your problem.

that's still considered wireless in order for you to talk and hear your friends talk that cord that goes into the Controller to the headset or mixer is the only way you can talk but if you don't want to talk you can go to the settings on the xbox and play though speakers
I have the same problem it has happened before and it then worked just fine after, but now no matter what i tried such as re installing the headset i can not hear anybody in my xbox live party or myself, I tried recording a voice message to try and hear myself but nothing. I can however hear the game and can talk. I just can't hear any myself or anybody talking to me.
When i got my headset i got the same problim...btw u cant hear your own music through headphones anyway....go to system settings....family settings....xbox live controlls....enter email and pass.....privacy and friends....voice and text and make sure its set to everyone. If this does not work i suggest you search system settings from back to frost untill u get them working....also in some games u need to press a button to speak look at your game manual to find out if you have to do this.
The only people who are allowed to talk on xbox live (in most games including halo) is someone who has an xbox live account. Guests can't use microphones.
However I believe if you recover a gamertag, and two players who both have xbox live accounts are playing on xbox live (on the same xbox), they can both use microphones. But whenever you see for instance Gskellig(1) on halo, they won't be able to use a mic.
Try sending yourself a message and see if you hit play (after recording the message) you can hear yourself. Sometimes Ive been playing games like GRAW2 online and when I lose connection with the host or something along those lines my mic will stop working untill I reset the console.
Also, most games will have some kind of an indicator when you are on Live that show when someone is talking. Do these indicators activate at all? (usually a small volume symbol that will light up next to the persons gamertag)
