Question about Kenmore 24 in. 16152 Built-in Dishwasher
Four days ago the dishwasher (Kenmore 587.16152) did not show any lights when the dial was turned. Tested outlet and power connection to the dishwasher, both checked OK.
Took the panel off and tested the latch switch by manually switching as if door was closed. This worked to get the dishwasher to do something when the dial was turned but the dial would get "stuck" when switching from heavy to normal wash and from normal to light. This might indicate a timer issue. However when setting the dial to "delay wash" the timer advanced and the cycle started.
Did not have time to look any further until last night. Now the dial turns and advances and the dishwasher completes a full cycle. However the "Washing" light goes off when the unit is filling and emptying. The light comes back on when the motor is moving water to wash the dishes, when it is actually washing. Previously, and according to the manual, this light is on during the entire cycle. This might indicate some type of problem with the circuit board, the timer, or whatever the washing light is hooked up to when not washing.
I have looked at the schematic and cannot figure out where the Washing light is connected. It is working (for now) but I am afraid that this magical "fix" will not last.
Any ideas are appreciated.

there is a #10 torx screw holding that cover down.do not drill it out. after you take it off you can tell if the chopper is broken.be careful for broken glass.

sounds like a stuck key pad since you said the normal wash button flashed.. the other thing is try holding the door shut while you run it.. to see of it is maybe not latching properly..

1.) Check the float switch for continuity
2.) check for a service tech sheet either inside of the toe panel (lower front panel)
or somewhere inside of the bottom or on the side of the unit.
3.)Trace the valve power back to the timer/control
4.) Check for power from control to water valve.
I bet it is the float switch
here is a video for the water valve and float switch click on the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv22rpcthy4
Please post results for float switch and if you found the service tech sheet.
I will continue to look for service manaul and or wiring diagram.

Unlock your Kenmore dishwasher control panel by pressing and holding the "Heated Dry" button for four seconds.
Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test.
Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.
Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel and stop the "Clean" light from blinking repeatedly.
Hope this will be of help to you
