Remove the lint screen from the dryer. If you are unsure how
to remove the lint trap, refer to your owner's manual, as removal
directions vary among Maytag models.
Use your fingers to remove large chunks of lint from the
lint screen. You should remove the lint from the lint trap after every
Run the lint screen under the faucet. Use hot water and thoroughly wet down both sides.
Scrub both sides of the lint screen with a wet nylon scrub
brush. Rinse the screen again under hot water to remove loosened
buildup. Allow the lint screen to air-dry on a towel before putting it
back inside of the dryer.
Make a paste of powdered laundry soap and warm water into a
small bowl. Use three parts powdered detergent to one part water. Stir
with a spoon until a paste forms.
Dip a soft rag into the paste. Wipe down the entire interior
of the dirty Maytag dryer with the rag and paste. Apply more paste to
the cloth as needed.
Rinse the interior of the dryer with a damp rag to remove the paste.
Dry a load of damp towels in the Maytag dryer. Run a complete dry cycle to remove any residue left inside.
Wipe down the exterior of the dryer with a rag moistened
with all-purpose household cleaner. You can also use the household
cleaner to remove certain stains from the interior of the dryer. Make
sure the cleaner you are using is noninflammable.
1.Remove the lint screen, which usually is located in the front of a Maytag dryer. Gently pull it up and out, and remove the lint with your fingers. 2. Use hot water and wet both sides of the lint screen. Use a nylon scrubbing brush and a little bit of liquid dish soap or laundry detergent to scrub the screen clean of lint and fabric softener buildup. Rinse both sides thoroughly with hot water. Towel dry and replace the lint screen when dry. Maytag states that owners should do this every six months. 3.Clean the exhaust every two years, as recommended by Maytag. Whoever installed your dryer had to install the exhaust vent. Unplug your dyer and unscrew the vent from the back of the dryer. Use a vacuum attachment or your hands to remove any clogged lint and replace. You may need to do the same thing to the other end that is attached to the wall. 4.Clean the dryer cabinet. According to Maytag, a professional should remove lint from the dryer cabinet every two years. This may be a good time to have him clean out the vents as well, rather than doing it yourself, if preferred. 5.Clean your lint screen on a regular basis. Maytag states that you should clean the lint screen with your fingers before using the dryer each time. Be sure to replace it all the way so it can work properly.
If the model number you listed this question under is correct, access to the dryer interior to clean can be obtained by following these steps: 1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen.
2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the top panel.
3. Unplug the door switch connector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing.
4. Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side in the cabinet interior.
5. With the door shut, lean against the front panel and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, grasp the front panel at the top center and lift straight up to remove.
You should now have complete access to the dryer interior. Once you have completed your inspection and cleaning of the dryer interior re-install the dryer front panel by holding it as you did previously. Line up the holes on the inside bottom edge of the front panel with the small mounting cleats on the front edge of the side panels. This can be done by yourself, but an assistant may make it easier. Once you have the front panel in place, lean against it to hold it in place and install the mounting screws.
NOTE: Don't forget to reconnect the grounding wire and door switch connector plug. Without the door switch connected, the dryer will not run. Lower the top panel back in place and reinstall the two screws.
NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them. If you have any questions about this repair, or if the model number is different, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
In order to locate the lint filter for your dryer you must first remove the door. to do this first open the door and remove the screw that hold the hinges to the front of the dryer. once the door is off. there are 2 screws at the bottom of the front access panel. once the screws are out the panel will come off of its brackets by pulling the bottom out first. once this panel has been removed you will be able to see the inside of the dryer and the lint screen is directly behind this panel on the LEFT hand side and it will just pull straight out. if you need a new one the part number is 33001808.hope this helps
http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php This will show you how your dryer is put together. The lint has gone directly to the fan, where it could affect fan performance. You would have to remove the front off the dryer, and the cover off the fan area. It's not a bad idea to clean this area once in a while.
The font panel must be removed. This may be done by removing the control console (open upper cabinet doors to find screws behind the console). The screws along the top of the lower front panel are easily accessible. Disconnect the two interlock switches, remove the grounding clip attached to the bulkhead & lift the panel off the two lower clips. Inside the panel is a housing that leads to the exhaust blower. It will be packed with lint that may be hardened like papier mache. Just clean out the mess & reverse the process to replace the parts.
I repaired one of these yesterday. I started by poping the top I removed the front by getting the screws out from inside that hold the front on. I unhooked the lid switch and got the front out of the way. Guess what I found? A big ball of lint right in front of the blower. The whole filter housing was full of lint!. To make matters worse the blower was loose!. So I used my super duty shop vac to clean it up and I replaced the fuse(mounted next to heat element)yes it was blown because of the lint ball.
Unplug first with a straight blade screwdriver, pry up on the top of the dryer where the front wall of the dryer and the top meet. there are 2 screws 1 on each side inside the dryer where the sides and front meet, remove them and unhook the wires from the door switch. the whole front will now pull out and up, now open the door remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the door opening and the whole lint tray will pull out. sounds like a lot but only takes about 5 minutes.
