You did not mention the Operating System on your laptop. I will assume that it is vista.
Here is an article showing you how to enable your playback devices.
Please let me know how you make out..thanks

If you want the solution to your problem, I need the info off of the bottom of the laptop.

Using Lenovo ThinkPad T61 6458-GW4 as an example;

Lenovo = Manufacturer (IBM)
ThinkPad = Series
T61 = Subseries
6458 = Machine Type
GW4 = Model

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/default.page?

I will then find the Drivers download page for YOUR Lenovo, and the Audio driver.

Don't care what Device Manager states. Need to reinstall the Audio driver.

Post back in a Comment.

Did you format the laptop recently ? If yes then might be your operating system was not installed properly. Find a fresh copy of the operating system and reinstall it again. Hope it will work. Also if this dont work may be its problem with the hardware. Repair it .

No sound on computer and comp can not play music

This issue will occur if the Computer speakers are not to the default Audio Device. Please right click on the Sound icon on the right corner of the Taskbar (System Trey) and select the "Playback Devices". After that, please right click on the "Speaker/Headphones" to set them as the default Audio Device. This should enable the Computer speaker and sound should work correctly.

If the above steps did not resolve the issue, you may need to re-install the Audio Driver in the Computer to resolve the issue. You can download the Audio Driver using the below link.

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7ka213ww.exe

Restart the Computer after re-installing the Audio Driver.

This should fix the issue with the sound.

Hope this helps..

No audio output device installed and the screen goes off when connected to a projector

For no Audio output device installed message, go to device manager uninstall the audio driver. Reinstall the audio driver from either Windows update or from the manufacturer's(your Computer or Laptop) Web site.

No audio out put device installed

If I were facing this problwm, then I would have tried installing audio drivers on my laptop first.

You can download the drivers from the following website.
