Unable to take out the filter

Sorry I havent got the model number - but I have Miele Washing machine which has start to leak from the bottom of the machine at the end of the cycle. I tried to take out the filter in case this was causing the problem - but when I turned it the plastic top came away without unscrewing the filter so I am unable to get the filter out. Any ideas on how to sort this out?
many thanks

Hi Maureen. The filter get jammed in by scale and detergent deposits. The detergent deposits are mainly due to low temp washing and short cycles. I been a Miele engineer for years and know this problem only too well. The only way to resolve this is to remove the plastic top and spring, grab the remaining part of the filter with a good pair of pliers, it will look like a plastic spiggot or post is the best explination, and pull like mad. If still no luck then you will have to open the front and remove the pump housing and drive it out with a big screwdriver.

DIY Guru is on the right track with the filter in a few parts. You may break the filter in the process of getting it out, if so, post the model number and I will forward you the correct part number for the filter. You will also have to clean all the rubbish and scale out from the housing otherwise the filter will not re-seal. Good luck

MY machine demonstrated the same symptoms. What appears to be the issue is that the filter is separated into three elements: 1) the Screw cap 2) the seal (connected to the filter via a spring) and 3) the filter itself.
After trying to find the technical manual both in hardcopy and on-line and also trying to find the answer on-line (using sites like 'repair my machine' I eventually called Miele and asked them. They wanted a minimum call-out charge of £99.00 which I found to be excessive so I was delighted to find your post and was equally delighted when I found that your machine and my machine were identical - so much so that they are the same..............perhaps its because we live in the same house and have been married for 25 years!!!!!!!

Have you tried to clean the filter recently ? If you have , water may have seeped into the machine, tip it forward and the water should drain out , if it does the same error you have something leaking inside the machine.

My new Miele Washing Machine (Model no WDA 110) is not taking in water. The programme timer counts down but no water comes in thru powder/conditioner. We have checked the installation carefully and

Hi, Jane.
Is the tap on? (Sorry, I had to ask)
Make sure the filters on the inlet valve(s) aren't blocked.
If all is well with the inlet valves you should hear a faint humming. This is normal.
If it's a new machine it would still be under warranty, so you should get a Miele serviceman to check out the problem.
Good Luck

Poor quality wash from miele w2240 and washing smells stagnant. We use a good washing powder and softener. The machine is 7 years old. Should we buy a new one?

The smell usually comes when the washer is unable to drain water completely, you can run your washer at its hottest temperature setting with 1 cup of vinegar inside the unit. After this take off the bottom front panel and clean it completely, also clean the drain hose and drain pump filter, the smell should disappear after doing all this. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I owna W844 Miele washing machine. Shortly after I have pressed the start button, the "spoolen" light starts blinking and the washing procedure doesnt continue. Do you know which the problem may be?

Hi dear.If the machine starts the cycle but does not start agitate there are two things could be wrong.1- Good thing loose motor connection,2- Bad one is control board gone.To checked the loose connection, take out the detergent drawer. There are 3 secrews, unsecrew them.Bottom left hand side where the filter lid open the drain hose.Out of the front doorjust under the filter lid, there is one little clip holds the the door & cheked the motor connection. If it's loose, make sure firmly attach the connection housing.put the machine back in order & start the machine. If machine takes the water in & still not rotate the drum(If the rinse "spoolen" light flashing),you need to call miele service centre where you are to get it replace the control board.I hope that helps.Thanks.

Miele WT2670 message on screen "waterproof system activated". How do I reset?

I've just had this fault on this model, Its caused by a leak of water into the tray at the bottom, which activates a sensor to shut the water in flow off and thus prevent a flood. The fix is as for a posting by halldor to a question about the w4146 - ie.
Turn off and unplug, drain by the filter plug, lean the machine forward - the water flows out the bottom, plug in and it should work.
You do need to establish the cause of the leak first. Mine was a draw cord on some trousers dangling out of the door, thus preventing a proper seal, the water dribbled down the front and into the tray. Miele stated it could only be fixed by their service mechanics - I'd have had to wait 10 days!

Miele leak when switched on for wash, from filter unit front LHS bottom of machince

The leaks in a washing machine could be coming from many different places in the washer.

The first place you need to check is behind the washer, check the two fill hoses and the water mixing valve.

The next thing to do is to remove the front panel, set the washer on the regular cycle and turn it on to start filling.

Use a drop light and check all the hoses under the washer as the washer is filling. Make sure to keep your hands away from any moving parts.

If the hoses are ok, check the pump for leaks. When the bearings in the pump wear out, that is when the pump will get noisy and that could cause your Maytag top load washing machine water leaks.

Another place that the washer could leak water from, is the stem & seal on the holding tank. When washer leaks water from the stem & seal, the water leaks down the center of the transmission.

When the stem & seal need to be replace, the tub bearing has to be replace at the same time. This is an expensive repair if you have to pay someone to do it. If you do it yourself it will cost you about $110

You can replace the Bellows as it is called but to fix it before you replace it clean it with Bleach to kill the mold and then dry it ALSO after any load you do leave the door open a bit this allows the mach to air dry out and prevents the build up of mold ..Good Luck plz rate this post for me
