No sound after format

When you format a computer hard drive you will lose EVERYTHING on the drive. Chances are that you did not reinstall the necessary sound drivers to operate your speakers.

Lose sound on my Toshiba laptop

you did the right thing by going to control panel and opening the sounds and audio devices tab. The fact that you said that everything is dulled out or frozen leads me to beleive that it's the sound driver. Sometimes they get damaged from third party software. So go to my computer, C: drive, open the windows folder. Now click on a folder that says drivers. Inside that folder you should have a file or folder that has your sound driver to install. That's the easy way.

#2 also easy. Go to support and downloads type in your make and model and you should get a list of your drivers. select the audio driver and download it and install. Sounds easy right!!

#3. Not that easy. right click on my computer, go down to properties and then click on the hardware tab. Now click on device manager. Here is a list of all the hardware in your computer. If it has a yellow exclamation mark next to it, then windows does not recognize it! So look for sound video game controllers or multimedia in the list. This is where the drivers for all of your sound is. Click the + sign next to them. This should give you a list of audio drivers if present. If you see a yellow question mark next to them then you must reinstall your drivers by right clicking on the question mark and choosing to update driver. this should bring you to the hardware update wizard. Select not this time and then next. now choose install the software automatically and then click next. If windows has a driver for your sound card stored internally it will now reinstall it Hope I helped you out somewhere.

If none of the above solutions work then it might be a hardware issue. It also might be disabled in the bios. Good luck
