The scan to e-mail uses your default mail product. As of June 2008, Outlook Express can not check a Hotmail account. If you have XP, Vista or Win7, you can download and install Windows Live Mail and use that instead. Since Hotmail is a Microsoft product, Live Mail should set up the account without a problem (both the incoming server and the out-going server); all you'll need to add is your full email address (
[email protected]) and password. Make your Hotmail account the default and Live Mail the default e-mail program and you should be good to go for sending e-mail via Hotmail.
If you want to continue with Outlook Express, there is no solution.
I hope this helps.

(Live Mail will ask if you want it to be the default program when you first launch it after installing (in my experience all mail programs do this). If you relaunch Outlook Express, it will ask the same question and you will need to reset the default program for mail. This can be done either as each program asks or through the Control Panel, Programs, Default Programs)
