Just reinstall the printer driver software it will install the missing file and you will be able to scan.

When I try to scan on my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless it says "No Scan Options" on the little screen what should I do?

Do you have the full software installed on the computer, if available? You can get the software here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3795406& for supported OS versions. Select your OS and click Next. (The basic drivers will not support launching scans from the all-in-one.) I don't believe the buttons work with the Mac OS, unfortunately.

Can you launch a scan from the computer? Next check that the digital imaging monitor is running. The digital imaging monitor is only in the full featured software and listens for the button press. If yes, then you haven't set the destinations for the scan buttons in the software. Launch the HP Solution Center and go to Settings. Then set the Scan Settings > Button Settings > Front Panel Scan Buttons for Scan to E-mail and Scan to File.

I hope this helps.

How does one lower the scan resolution on the Dell 2135cn? Currently, a document of twenty - or so - pages, saves to a pdf file of ten-plus megabytes. Far too large to attach to email.

You need to adjust the resolution in the software. Are you using the Dell software and PaperPort or another application?

This will be easiest to do when you launch the scan from the computer. If you have the TWAIN driver loaded, load the document to scan in the ADF and open Paperport. Click FileScan and the available scanners list should open. Choose your scanner (otherwise click the Select button on the left side of the window). Then click OK. Click on the Scanner Display dialog box on the left of the window. Click on Preview. Then adjust the resolution by clicking on the Image Quality tab.

If the document contains is only a series of picture or you have the WIA driver loaded, then use Paint or PhotoGallery (Vista includes the program, but it is available for XP or Windows 7). Then choose File > Import from Camera or Scanner > From Scanner. Open the Advanced Properties dialog box by clicking on Adjust the Quality of the Scanned picture.

I hope this helps.

(The default resolution is used when you launch a scan from the unit itself. It is possible to adjust it once the software loads but you must use the scan to file option, instead of scan to e-mail. Then attach the resultant file to your e-mail.)

I am trying to scann some documents to my computer but the Dell 926 All in One keeps telling me the scan failed, first it telss me it has to download applications then it tells me to use the defaults....

Try a new data cable and a direct connection (if you have a print server or USB hub connected). Scanners require bi-directional communication and can fail when the printer itself works.

Do you have the full software installed or a generic driver? What OS do you have? To see what software/drivers are available: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A926&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= and choose your OS in the drop down menu. Did you launch the scan from the computer or from the all-in-one? Are you running the monitoring program on your computer (to launch a scan from the unit, this must be running to "listen" for the button press)? Did you set up the software for the destinations for those buttons? Launch scans from the computer first.

Uninstall any generic driver from the OS and unplug the data cable (USB). Then install the software or driver from Dell. Generic drivers often only run the printer.

The full software (and the monitoring program) are not available for Win7. You need to use Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) or Paint (File > Import from Camera or Scanner) to acquire scans. XP and Vista can also use Paint. (Some versions of Vista also have Windows Fax and Scan as well as Photo Gallery that can acquire scans.)

I hope this helps.

I am trying to figure out how to use my Brother MFC-8440 scanner. I would like to use it to scan documents to email out. When I go to Brother.com and look at the direction book, it doesn't have directions...

It is part of the Network User's Guide (section 10) and the Software User's Guide (section 3 for a PC using Windows, Section 8 for network scanning), not the User's Guide. The directions below are for XP and Win2K primarily. Slight changes may exist with other OS versions. (Full software is not available for Win7 so the buttons on the unit will not work. You will need to launch scans from the computer only. You can use Windows Paint or Fax and Scan without needing third party software. Then attach the file to an email either in the email software or by right clicking on the file and choosing Send to Mail Recipient.)

For either use, put the document face down on the glass or face up in the ADF.

If you use a directly connected computer, you need to set the destination for the Scan to E-mail in the Control Center (section 4-4 in the Software User's Guide). Open this program and make sure the correct machine is in the drop-down menu. This program needs to be running to hear the buttons being pressed. Click on E-mail to set which program will get the scanned document as an attachment for your e-mail. You can also set the resolution and type of attachment. If you do not want to use available file formats, you will need to scan in PaperPort (or other software) and then use that to attach the file to the e-mail. Then click Scan to launch the scan from the unit. Hit Set when ready to send.

If you have the unit set up on the network, then you can enter the LAN setup in the Front Panel (or a browser). Hit Menu 6 (and then the appropriate number for the next feature), such as TCP/IP, DHCP or Static IP (these are under 1), SMTP, POP3, Mail Address (Menu 6 2). Setup the Scan to email with Menu 6 7 1 for color and Menu 6 7 2 for black and white.

This automatically sends the item to the email server or PDF as either a PDF or JPEG. Then you need register the PC that will get the file to the unit, if you use scan to email (PC). (Your version of Windows will matter for exactly where the information is: Control Panel > Scanners and Cameras or Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Scanners and Cameras.) Right click on the icon for the unit and select Properties to see the Network Properties box. Go through all of this set up including the Scan To Button. Then the Control Center will launch the e-mail program when it "hears" you press Scan, select Scan to Email, press Set, then choose PC and press Set again. (or select the destination PC which has e-mail access and press Set again). Scanning will start.

If you have set the POP3 and SMTP servers and the unit can directly access them, then you can scan to e-mail and enter the recipient address. Press Scan, select Scan to Email, press Set, choose Email Server and Press Set again. Adjust the scan quality as desired pressing Set at each step. Once you go through all of the layers, the LCD screen will prompt you for the recipient's email address. Then press Start.

I hope this helps.

How can I scan a document to my computer using my MP210 printer

You can actually initiate a document scanning via the "Scan" button on the printer or by alternately, by launching the MP Navigator EX software from your PC. Pressing the "Scan" button will launch the same software.

In MP Navigator EX, you can specify the type of original, change resolution, choose a format in which to save the scan (TIFF, JPEG, PDF, BMP), and edit the resulting scans. Within the custom scan tab, you can do advanced actions such as scanning originals larger than the platen using stitch assist and scan into a software program (such as Excel or Word). You can also attach scans to e-mails or save them to your PC.

My canon lide 100 scanner will e mail scanned

The scan to e-mail uses your default mail product. As of June 2008, Outlook Express can not check a Hotmail account. If you have XP, Vista or Win7, you can download and install Windows Live Mail and use that instead. Since Hotmail is a Microsoft product, Live Mail should set up the account without a problem (both the incoming server and the out-going server); all you'll need to add is your full email address ([email protected]) and password. Make your Hotmail account the default and Live Mail the default e-mail program and you should be good to go for sending e-mail via Hotmail.

If you want to continue with Outlook Express, there is no solution.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(Live Mail will ask if you want it to be the default program when you first launch it after installing (in my experience all mail programs do this). If you relaunch Outlook Express, it will ask the same question and you will need to reset the default program for mail. This can be done either as each program asks or through the Control Panel, Programs, Default Programs)

Display reads "connecting to PC" nothing happening

Was this function working fine before? When you choose Scan => To Email, what the device actually do is launch the scanning software and scan it and save to temporary folder THEN open your default OUTLOOK email account and creates a new mail with the scanned file attached to it. So it could be a scanning software error or low in memory since the process requires an amount of memory.

So you better try to Scan => To File and see if the scanning completes. If you have problem with it, then try to reinstall the program of your printer and scanner in one.
